Objective: There are many different methods to set orthodontic targets.Therefore,we base on Ricketts VTO to determine anterior tooth target,then we arrange digital tooth to determine the other tooth target.Ultimately,we use Dolphin VTO Software to predict profile,engaging a improves VTO.Material and methods: Three adult cases were selected from Fujian Stomatology Hospital.Those cases had to be improved face greatly.Angle Class I or Class II were diagnosed.The CO-CR position was basically the same.The orthodontic methods were extraction by orthodontic treatment and straight wire orthodontic treatment in three patients.Record the information of patients,collect pre&post-treatment lateral cephalometrics,facial photos and plaster models,and use a three-dimensional model scanner(Denmark,3 Shape,E2)modeling.Then use 3 Shape Ortho Analyzer software to arrange teeth.At last,Dolphin imaging 11.95 Premium software was used to form profile prediction and lateral cephalometric.Case 1,CM,27 years old female whose chief complaint was“protrudent upper anterior teeth”.She was diagnosed Angle class I and Skeletal class II malocclusion.The mandibular planes angle was average,and convex profile.The upper and lower midline is shift to the right 1 mm,and the anterior overbite is 2 mm,overjet is 2.5 mm.We selected the camouflaged treatment.Four first premolars were extracted for orthodontic treatment.The patient was treated by straight Arch Wire Technique to align and level the dental arch,close extraction space and establish a correct overbite and overjet.Case 2,HM,21 years old female whose chief complaint was“protrudent upper anterior teeth”.She was diagnosed Angle classI and Skeletal class II malocclusion.The mandibular planes angle was high angle,and convex profile.The anterior overbite is normal,overjet is 4 mm.We selected the camouflaged treatment.Four first premolars were extracted for orthodontic treatment.The patient was treated by straight Arch Wire Technique to align and level the dental arch,close extraction space and establish a correct overbite and overjet.Case 3,XM,27 years old female whose chief complaint was“protrudent upper anterior teeth”.She was diagnosed Angle classI.anterior teeth horizontal open bite and Skeletal class II malocclusion.The mandibular planes angle was high angle,and convex profile.We selected the camouflaged treatment.Bilateral upper first premolars,right lower first premolar and left lower first molar were extracted for orthodontic treatment.The patient was treated by straight Arch Wire Technique to align and level the dental arch,close extraction space and establish a correct overbite and overjet.The open bite is relieved.Results: This method can predict VTO,and the final results of hard and soft tissues are similar to the actual results,but its accuracy needs further verification.Conclusions: In the past,VTO was limited to two-dimensional design,but this method was improved in two-dimensional design to help orthodontists set treatment target position.It is convenient for doctors to design tooth extraction position and anchorage design,and can communicate with patients before operation.
