Application Of Bracketless Invisible Appliances By Manual Tooth Arrangement In The Treatment Of Mild Dental Crowding

Objective: As the number of adult orthodontic patients increasing, aesthetic and comfortable demands during orthodontic treatment increased. Conventional fixed orthodontic appliances can't satisfy aesthetic demands of adult patients. The need to avoid conventional fixed orthodontic appliances led to multiple "invisible "appliances. This article is to investigate the clinical effect of mild dental crowding cases applying bracketless invisible appliance by manual tooth arrangement.Methods: 15 non-extraction patients were chosen, with permanent dentition, mild dental crowding and non-skeletal malocclusion. The space needs of anterior and posterior arches were determined by the diagnostic set-up. Spaces were obtained by interproximal enamal stripping. Then teeth were removed step-by-step by bracketless invisible appliances, which were made by manual tooth arrangement method. Denture was aligned in the final.Results: Treatment course of the 15 patients arranged 3 to 13 months, the average is 6.5 months. After orthodontic treatment, crowding was relieved, normal anterior overbite and overjet were obtained, molar and canine relationship were maintained, favourable occlusion was obtained.Conclusions: Bracketless invisible appliance made by manual tooth arrangement method could remove and align teeth effectively, with stable results; Compared with conventional fixed orthodontic appliance, it is more esthetic and comfortable, and also helpful for good oral hygiene; Cost is lower than bracketless invisible appliance made by computer-aided. So it is more acceptable to patients. But we must choose the indication strictly, and standard treatment course, thus we could obtain favourable results.
