Product Service System Based Research On Nurse Station

In recent few years,medical service market has been expanding rapidly in China,healthcare experience has drawn public attention.Nurse station is the main workplace for nurses and an important hub in hospital which is a complex system with many kinds of stakeholders engaged.However,at present,interior designers play an important role in nurse station design.Nurse station is more viewed as a space rather than a service system which lead to some usability issues.Considering customers’ changing and diverse needs,the field of medical service design requires a more systematic approach to design and research.PSS(Product Service System)has been developing for several decades,and has been applied successful in many commercial service fields.This study is aimed at applying PSS in healthcare design to propose a new nurse station product service system design proposal.There is a systematic methodology for designing PSS based on activities and functions,which is updated with added service design tools and used to redesign the nurse station.The updated PSS design process includes four steps: requirement identification,stakeholder activity design,PSS concept generation and PSS concept representation.Through the demand extraction and activity analysis of the various stakeholders,the concept of PSS was proposed to meet the various needs of all stakeholders.The PSS concept is further decomposed into different service element modules each of which contains several product elements.These elements are organized to form the nurse station PSS solution including mobile nurse station,the traditional nurse station and the family nurse station.PSS design methods can help researchers to research and design the system from both macroscopic and detailed aspects.It is very suitable for solving complex healthcare system problems and can help to improve the experience of all stakeholders.
