Objectives:To investigate the current status of the construction of curriculum for candidates of graduate academic degree of nursing in China fully and analyze the main problems and causes.To provide targeted suggestions for our country by referring to the experience of the curriculum design for postgraduate education in nursing in foreign developed countries,so as to provide the basis for the education administrative departments to formulate the construction and reform decision-making of curriculum for candidates of graduate academic degree of nursing and also provide reference for nursing schools to optimize the curriculum design for postgraduate students.Methods:1.By literature research,the research status of the curriculum design for postgraduate education in nursing at home and abroad was understood and the concepts of curriculum,the curriculum for postgraduate education in nursing and the curriculum design were discussed.2.By methods of network resource and field survey,curricular information about PhD program in nursing of 8 nursing schools from 2 foreign countries and masters program in nursing of 16 nursing schools from 4 foreign countries was collected and analyzed.3.The questionnaires were developed according to the research outline of the construction of curriculum for postgraduates of first-level discipline and were revised and improved by experts of the nursing discipline appraisal group.Using the cross-sectional survey method,the current status of the construction of curriculum of doctoral education in nursing in 25 nursing schools and academic master's degree education in nursing in 66 nursing schools were investigated.At the same time,the evaluation and suggestion of 660 nursing teachers and 1417 postgraduate nursing students on the current status of the construction of curriculum were investigated.4.According to the geographical location,nursing schools were divided into four regions: the east,the west,the north and the central,numbers of which are 16,16,18 and16 respectively.The problems,needs,and suggestions of nursing schools on the construction of curriculum were collected by conferences from different regions.Results:1.The concepts of the curriculum for postgraduate education in nursing and the curriculum design were defined and the research status of the curriculum design for postgraduate education in nursing at home and abroad was reviewed and analyzed.2.Great importance was attached to curriculum learning in nursing postgraduate education in foreign countries and curricula were designed according to the core competencies of PhD and master students in nursing with a relatively complete curriculum system and rich curriculum resources.The process of curriculum implementation conforms to the characteristics of postgraduate students which has certain reference significance for the construction of curriculum in nursing postgraduate education in China.3.After more than 20 years of development,education of graduate academic degree of nursing in China achieved a series of achievements,including the basic formation of the graduate curriculum system,the establishment of the basic curriculum quality assurance system,and the possession of the curriculum resources meeting the basic needs of graduate education.However,there were still some problems,such as weak teaching staff,imperfect curriculum,insufficient curriculum resources,lack of diversity in teaching and evaluation methods,and irregular curriculum management.4.On the basis of the above theoretical research and comprehensive investigation,some countermeasures and suggestions on strengthening the construction of curriculum for candidates of graduate academic degree of nursing in China were put forward,including strengthening the study of subject theory and constructing a scientific second-level discipline system,clarifying the core competence and formulating the guidance training program,developing core curriculum standards and strengthening core curriculum group construction,optimizing the curriculum implementation process,establishing the curriculum resource sharing platform,improving the curriculum quality assurance system,and strengthening the teaching staff construction.Conclusions:The current status of the construction of curriculum for candidates of graduate academic degree of nursing in China was fully investigated and the main problems and causes were analyzed.Referring to the experience of the curriculum design for postgraduate education in nursing in foreign developed countries,targeted countermeasures and suggestions for our country were put forward,which could provide ascientific basis for the construction and reform of curriculum of nursing schools.
