Objective:By observing the effect of Hezhuyin on the total scores of TCM syndromes, blood lipids, and safety events in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus(phlegm turbid and blood stasis syndrome),we evaluated the clinical efficacy and safety of Hezhuyin in the treatment of patients with T2DM.Methods:A total of 64 patients with T2DM(phlegm turbid and blood stasis syndrome)were enrolled in this study. They were divided into experimental and control groups of 32 patients in each group.Through a 4 week lead-in period, dietary control and exercise therapy are combined to control the patient’s blood glucose levels. After the lead-in period,a 4-week clinical observation was performed to compare the improvement of total scores of TCM syndromes and changes in blood lipid parameters between patients before and after the treatment, and to record the presence or absence of related adverse events, thereby evaluating the effect and safety of Hezhuyin on T2DM(phlegm turbid and blood stasis syndrome).Result:1.Efficacy comparison of TCM syndromes:After 4 weeks of clinical observation,3 cases were clinically controlled in the experimental group,6 cases were markedly effective,18 cases were effective, and 4 cases were ineffective. In the control group,1 case was clinically controlled,2 cases were markedly effective,19 cases were effective, and 8 cases were ineffective..The total effective rate of total scores in TCM syndromes was 87.10%in the experimental group and 73.33%in the control group. The difference was statistically significant by the non-parametric test(P=0.04<0.05),indicating that Hezhuyin can significantly improve T2DM(phlegm turbid and blood stasis syndrome)in patients with TCM Syndrome scores to improve the total efficiency of treatment.2.Comparing the efficacy of blood lipids:There was no significant difference in TC,TG,HDL-C,and LDL-C between the two groups before treatment,P>0.05.The levels of TC and LDL-C decreased significantly after treatment in both groups, and the levels of TC and LDL-C decreased significantly in the experimental group compared with the control group(TC:P = 0.049<0.05;LDL-C:P = 0.045<0.05).There was no significant difference in TG and HDL-C levels(TG:P = 0.42>0.05;HDL-C:P = 0.27>0.05).This shows that Hezhuyin can significantly reduce the TC and LDL-C levels in patients.3.Comparison of safety events:During the trial, two patients in the experimental group experienced slight abdominal distention and anorexia symptoms after initial medication.Four patients in the control group experienced similar symptoms of abdominal distension, anorexia, and diarrhea. After the above patients continue to take the medicine for several days, the above symptoms are relieved spontaneously. There are no other serious adverse events in the two groups of patients during the course of treatment. Therefore,Hezhuyin has good safety for patients with T2DM.Conclusions:1.Hezhuyin can significantly improve the TCM syndrome scores of patients with T2DM and improve the total effective rate of treatment.2.Hezhuyin can significantly reduce the levels of TC and LDL-C in patients with T2DM.3.Hezhuyin has good safety in the treatment of T2DM patients(phlegm turbid and blood stasis syndrome).
