PURPOSE:Pulmonary tuberculosis(PTB)is one of the major infectious diseases which seriously endanger public health.A reduced amount of new PTB patient and lower spreading rate can be achieved while better public PTB knowledge education and behavior intervention implemented.China has been putting great emphasizes on TB prevention,3 national TB prevention 10-year plan and 2 5-year plan have been implemented,emphasizing the importance of enhancing public awareness of PTB prevention and controlling.And the latest plan proposed that "innovative method as Weibo and Wechat promotional platform should be fully adapted to start a multi-dimensional PTB prevention propaganda process".Wechat has become the most popular tool for information receiving purpose,and a number of researchers have tested the effectiveness of applying Wechat into medical knowledge spreading,the results turned out to be great.However,there is fewer research on how Wechat will interfere the publicity of PTB prevention knowledge.This research aims to raise the PTB prevention knowledge awareness rate among all respondents by using Wechat as the information spreading media,trying to interfere respondents’ seeking health behavior intention,and to explore the effect and feasibility of Wechat in PTB prevention and controlling.METHODS:1.The survey objects.All respondents are randomly selected from 4 shopping malls in Beijing,add up to 520 person in total.2.Intervention.Firstly,the baseline data is collected by a first-round questionnaire survey,including respondents’ basic information,PTB prevention knowledge level and attitude,existing PTB seeking health behavior,accesses to PTB controlling and prevention knowledge and PTB prevalence.Secondly,all respondents are invited into a researching Wechat Subscription,in which 2 PTB prevention related articles are updated per week,this interfering period last for 3 months.Thirdly,after the interfering period,second-round questionnaire survey is conducted,using the same questions from first-round.3.Statistical analysis.Data input,classified,summarized and depicted by Excel.A statistic software named SAS9.3 is used to run Chi square test and regression analysis,P<0.05 is statistically significant.Concrete statistical method include:(1)Descriptive statistical analysis:using the composition ratio(%)to describe the respondents’ basic characteristics.Chi square test was used to investigate whether the knowledge of PTB prevention and controlling,attitude,behavioral intention,and the difference in media preference are statistically significant.(2)Regression analysis:using multi-classification Logistic regression analysis method to investigate and analyze the impact of demographic factors,PTB prevention and controlling knowledge,attitude and WeChat intervention situation on PTB medical seeking behavior.RESULTS:1.Effective survey population and questionnaire recovery rate.In this study,520 people were surveyed before interfering period,with 520 questionnaires conducted and collected.During interfering period,with the number of Wechat subscribers increased,606 questionnaires were collected in second-round survey eventually.Only those who took part in both first-round and second-round surveys and did not answer the questions illogically were finally counted to effective respondents,and this group of people added up to 503 in total,which means the effective rate of questionnaire survey was 96.73%.2.Respondents’demographic characteristics.Statistically,male respondents occupies larger percentage,and majority of respondents live in urban areas;Respondents were classified as young in general,for people aged 15 to 25 occupied a percentage of 92.25%;Respondents were mostly well-educated,because 73.75%of whom gained bachelor degree or above;Finally,a larger proportion of respondents had a monthly income between 3000 to 4999.3.Respondents’PTB prevention and controlling awareness situation.Respondents’ PTB prevention and controlling awareness rate were raised from 44.21%to 66.04%during 3-month interfering period,and the five core PTB prevention knowledge awareness rate had also raised from 40.87%.All PTB prevention knowledge awareness rate had been improved dramatically,except for "Over two weeks of cough or expectoration for should be considered as PTB infected".4.Respondents’ PTB awareness attitude.Generally,most respondents had better understanding in the serious influence that PTB would bring about after 3-month Wechat interfering period,for example,the number of people who think the labor ability "decreases dramatically" after PTB infected raised from 55.86%to 69.38%,and the number of people consider PTB as a "very serious disease" increased from 34.99%to 41.15%,all data are statistically significant(p<0.05).Respondents showed great interest in learning and spreading PTB prevention knowledge took a positive increase after interfering period.5.Respondents’media preference.According to survey,Radio/TV,Told by others,Newspaper/Magazine/Book were the three main PTB knowledge gaining media for most respondents.Wechat,Radio/TV,Website,Weibo,QQ are the most desirable ways that people would very much like to get PTB knowledge.There are some different.6.Respondents’ seeking health behavior influence factors,(1)Run logical regression analysis for seeking health behavior when symptom "Over two weeks of cough or expectoration" occur,it is find that the influence factors are:"Wechat interfered or not","monthly income level","medical insurance’’,"prevention knowledge awareness situation","be willing to get PTB prevention knowledge or not",and so on.(2)Run logical regression analysis for seeking health behavior when doubting PTB infected,it is find that the influence factors are:"Wechat interfered or not","age","have free medical care or not","be willing to get and spread PTB prevention knowledge or not".(3)Run logical regression analysis for seeking health behavior in choosing first medical institution when doubting PTB infected,it is find that the influence factors are:"Wechat interfered or not","have free medical care or not","age","monthly income level","literate","prevention knowledge awareness situation","severe awareness of PTB","be willing to get PTB prevention knowledge or not".CONCLUSION:After WeChat intervened,respondents’ PTB prevention and controlling awareness situation had been effectively improved,and respondents had more positive attitude about learning and spreading PTB prevention knowledge.As the same time,with better PTB prevention and controlling awareness situation and more positive attitude,respondents had more active seeking health behavior intention.There were some different between accesses to PTB controlling and prevention knowledge and expected accesses.Wechat,Radio/TV,Website,Weibo,QQ are the most desirable ways that people would very much like to get PTB knowledge.It is worth noticing that there are still fuzzy PTB prevention and controlling knowledge after the intervention.If responders with higher income must go to hospital they would choose general hospital first.
