The Collective Imagination And Carnival Of Women

Tanbi culture,a typical adolescent subculture,originated from Japan in the1980s-1990 s.At the beginning of 21 st century,Tanbi culture was introduced to China Mainland,and now it means the romantic love stories between two men.The fans of the culture are mainly 14 to 25 years old women,including a few young men."Tanbi community",the research object of this paper,gathered in the network forum such as "The Slasher Bar" on the basis of interest.They are sub-cultural group who participate in the construction of text transformation and gender construction.And they are "active fans" who have a special cultural experience.To the mainstream society,it is hard to understand why the straight young girls love the stories of homosexuality.On account of the minority of the Tanbi population and concealment,the network has become the main gathering place for Tanbi community.For the Tanbi fans,the use of Internet media has become an important part of their daily lives,and influences their way of thinking and behavior patterns imperceptibly,which affects the self-identity and values of teenagers profoundly.This paper adopts the method of “Cultural Research” in the audience analysis.On the basis of the history and the description of the features of Tanbi community media using,we analyze the gender culture and audience psychology behind it,which reflects "Collective imagination and carnival of women".The first two chapters of this paper are about illustration,literature reviews and research framework.In this part,we seize the key words —— "Tanbi community" and "the collective imagination and carnival of women",and clarify the concept and research summary,which laid the foundation for the following research.From the third chapter,we enter into the main part.In the third chapter of "Tanbi community network",by using the method of “Network Ethnography”,we clarify the history of establishment and development of the Slasher Bar,and systematically elaborate the features of media using and self management mechanism in such a network.The fourth chapter is the core part of this paper.On the basis of "Depth interview" with Tanbi fans',we elaborate the collective imagination and carnival of women in the mediausing with the combination of the carnival theory of Bakhtin,the famous Russian literary theorist.In this chapter,we clarify in four parts,such as " Humor: a new way of observing the world","Subversion: hostile to all ready-made,completed world feelings","Intimacy: communication with the Square language",and "A pure love Utopia: the collective imagination of women".The fifth chapter is the summary of the collective imagination and carnival of women.And the final conclusion is that there exist the awareness of gender equality and gender revolution in the carnival and imagination,but it ultimately becomes a gender game for the young girls to defend themselves and to fill the emptiness inside.And then,we compare the collective imagination and carnival of women with "The Feminist",and then we conclude that there is a great distance between them.And we find it just is a kind of "carnival of cross gender ",and we analyze the problems behind it.Finally,in the last part,we share the feelings and experiences of writing this paper,which are also the summary and sublimation of the full paper.
