In recent years, the demand of experiencing higher radio communication rate is increasing and the current rate of communication couldn't meet the demand. In order to overcome this contradiction, the targets of peak data rates are set up for 1Gbps under the lower mobility and 100 Mbps under the high mobility. In order to get such a high peak data rate, LTE-Advanced was put forward by the third Generation Partnership Project(3GPP) and it's the evolution of LTE. Besides, carrier aggregation is the key technology in LTE-Advanced system. It can be used to expand the system bandwidth up to 100 MHz and its peak data rates could reach 1Gbps of downlink rate and 500 Mbps of uplink rate.This thesis mainly studies carrier aggregation technology in LTE-Advanced system and the specific work content is as follows: The beginning of the paper is an overview of the research status and development trend of carrier aggregation technology. Then introduce the types and scenes of carrier aggregation, the transport layer aspect, the physical layer aspect and the basic principle of radio resource control aspect. In the third part, design the specific carrier aggregation scenario of LTEAdvanced carrier with S-band radar carrier. Establish the model and build simulation platform based on MATLAB language. The results show that the aggregation of these two carriers not only can gain a higher data transfer rate, but it also can use some relatively free carriers effectively. In the fourth part, design a scheme of three carriers' aggregation based on the proportional fair algorithm. Put forward a feasible algorithm and design a simulation platform of three carriers' aggregation in LTE-Advanced system based on MATLAB language. Through the results, we can learn that the algorithm could distribution corresponding resources according to different users that running different types of applications, ensuring that each user could get their minimum quality of service(QoS). In addition, this paper presents the commercial application of carrier aggregation technology and it'll distribute corresponding bandwidth according to the level of paying customers. We prove that this method can improve the real-time application user's data transmission rate through the simulation. Finally, we summarize the paper and clear the next research direction.Carrier aggregation technology can not only provide users with greater transmission bandwidth and higher data transmission rate, but also improve the customer's satisfaction ant it has been promoted widely.
