| Background:In recent years,there has been a significant increase in the incidence of prostate cancer(PCa)in China,with the population aging,lifestyle changes,the popularization of diagnostic techniques and physical examinations.Clinical treatment can not only increase the survival rate of patients and prolong the survival time,but also bring some disturbing adverse reactions,serious interference on the patient's daily life,and to the physical and mental status and social function bring huge influence in many aspects.Studies on quality of life could date back to the 1930s,and have developed quickly.The quality of life defined by the WHO is that individuals of different cultures and value systems experience their goals,expectations,standards and concerns.Quality of life is combined of physical,psychological and social factors' evaluation norms,and domestic and foreign scholars have increasingly placed emphasis on it.It has been widely used of all kinds of chronic diseases.Since the survival period of PCa patients is obviously improved,the patients need to face social psychological and quality of life in addition to their physiological problems.Therefore,it is important to introduce the concept of quality of life into the cure researches of prostate cancer,and adopt stable and effective test methods of prostate cancer,and explore factors that influence prostate cancer patients and continue to optimize curative effect evaluation system of prostate cancer.In China,there is no special quality of life questionnaire of Prostate Cancer,we have acquired the permission of Professor Peter Chang from America,and we apply and adapt the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite for Clinical Practice(EPIC-CP),and evaluate the reliability and validity of this scale in Chinese version,and undertake preliminary clinical applications to get a effective instrument for assessing quality of life for patients with prostate cancer in China.Objective:1.To translate the Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite for Clinical Practice(EPIC-CP)into Chinese and test the reliability and validity of Chinese Version of Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite in China.2.To explore the major influence factors to Chinese Version of Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite for Clinical Practice(EPIC-CP)in order to provided evidence for further interventions.Methods:After receiving the permission of the author of the scale-Expanded Prostate Cancer Index Composite for Clinical Practice(EPIC-CP),through translation,back-translation,cross-cultural adaptation and preliminary study,we got the Chinese version of the scale.The subjects came from prostate cancer outpatients or inpatients of one large tertiary grade hospital in Zhejiang from August 2015 to February 2017.Prostate cancers were chosen through on-the spot questionnaire.One or two weeks later,15 of them were asked to complete the same questionnaire again.All the data were analyzed with the statistic software SPSS 17.0 for social sciences.The reliability of retest was evaluated with Pearson correlation coefficients;the reliability of internal consistency was evaluated with Cronbach's alpha coefficients;the content validity was evaluated with the method of expert judgment,whether the research methods and procedures were standard or the content device is reasonable;the structure validity was evaluated with exploratory factor analysis.Result:The Chinese version of EPIC-CP consisted of 16 items in five dimensions.The Cronbach's a coefficient for the overall scale was 0.824,and 0.616?0.869 for the five dimensions;The test-retest reliability of the overall scale was 0.985(95%CI=0.897?0.998);Validity:the correlation coefficient between factors and between the total scale and each factor were 0.354?0.617(P<0.01);Content validity was good which I-CVI was 0.67?1.00,S-CVI/UA was 0.69 and S-CVI/Ave was 0.93,Principal component factor analysis extracted 5 factors,which explained 71.341%of the total variance,which demonstrated a excellence constructive validity.The loading of items on factors was higher than 0.4.Conclusions:The Chinese version of EPIC-CP is a valid scale that is concise and easily interpreted;and it has been proved to be reliable and valid,and it can be used to evaluate the quality of life for patients with PCa in China. |
