Background:Infertility is defined as the failure to achieve clinical pregnancy after twelve months of regular unprotected sexual intercourse. Infertility has an estimated prevalence of 9% in general population, however, only around half of the infertile couples seek for medical help. According to prior psychosocial studies, both infertility and its treatment could lead to emotional and psychological stress, which threaten the quality of life (QoL) for infertile couples. Furthermore, emotional distress has been taken as a factor contributing to infertility, and it is one of the reasons that make couples drop out from the treatment of infertility prematurely. Owing to the intertwined relationship between infertility and QoL, integrating QoL assessment in clinical practice for fertility problems should become a standard of care for infertile couples. In the past, various generic measurement tools were used for assessing QoL in infertile patients. Recently, a conditionspecific QoL measurement tool, Fertility Quality of Life (FertiQoL) questionnaire, specifically designed for infertile couples, has been developed and used internationally. This tool has been demonstrated to have good psychometric properties. To the best of our knowledge, there has been no published data regarding the general QoL in infertile couples in Chinese mainland. Our goal of this study is to understand the level of QoL in infertile couples in Chinese mainland local peopleObjectives:To evaluate the raliability and validity of FertiQoL, and discuss the applicability of this tool among Chinese infertile couplesMethod:Apply The Chinese version of FertiQoL and WHOQOL-BREF scale to 380 infertile patients in Nanfang_hospital. Enter all data into SPSS 18.0 and complete the analysis of items, test-retest reliability cofficient, Conbach’s a internal consistency, content validity, Criterion related validity to evaluate the reliability and validity of the Chinese version of FertiQoLResults:Among the first 15 recruited patients, the Chinese version of FertiQoL had good test-retest reliability. The ICC calculation was 0.95. The internal consistency of FertilQoL was excellent with the Cronbach’s a=0.932 which was evaluated in all 380 patients. In addition to the relationship dimensions (r=0.630, p <0.01), the environmental dimension (r=0.520, p<0.01), other dimension of the Scale with the the Cronbach’s a coefficient was higher than 0.7 (p<0.01). The scale level content validity index (S-CVI) was 0.80, which proves good validity. The score between the Chinese version of FertiQoL and WHOQOL-BREF showed a significant correlation (r=0.479. p<0.01). Criterion related validity also got a goo result. Conclusions:The Chinese version of FERTIQOL retains good reliability and validity, and is qualified to assess the quality of life among Chinese ILD patients.
