Health Literacy Research In Students From A Military Academy Of CAPF

Objective: This survey is designed to assess health literacy level in the current armed police college student,analyze the factors influencing health literacy,which then provide reliable countermeasures to health departments to improve the health level of cadres,and ultimately provide a solid guarantee for consolidating and improving the combat effectiveness of the military.Methods: The questionnaire survey was conducted among 707 cadres students who had on-the-job annual training in the Armed Police colleges during the period of June to September in 2016.The questionnaire used?2012 National health literacy survey questionnaire?,which complied by the National Health Education Center of China,and the results of the survey used Excel table double data entry method,and data was analyzed by SPSS13.0statistical software.Results:1 Basic status of health literacy In the investigation of year 2016,184 student cadres in armed police college are qualified with health literacy,overall health literacy level is26.03%,the status of three aspects of health literacy are: 232 students have basic health knowledge and concept literacy(32.81%),264 students have healthy lifestyle and behavior literacy(37.34%),215 students have basic skill literacy(30.41%).The status of Six types of health problems are: 266 students have scientific view of health literacy(37.62%),114 students have infectious disease prevention literacy(16.12%),95 students have chronic disease prevention literacy(13.44%),568 students have safety and first aid literacy(80.34%),112 students have basic medical literacy(15.84%),267 students have health information acquisition literacy(33.52%). 2 Score distribution Most student cadres in Armed Police colleges got score of the health literacy up to 60%~79%,which are 445 students(62.94%),only 0.00%students are below score of 20%.The distribution of three aspects of health literacy are concentrated in the score of 60%~79%,which are 412 students(58.27%)?342 students(48.37%)and 376 students(53.18%).Regarding to the score distribution of six types of health problems,expect the safety and first aid literacy,the distribution of the remaining five kinds of problem literacy scores are concentrated in the score of 60%~79%,which are 354 students(50.21%)? 324 students(45.83%)? 387 students(54.74%)? 440 students(62.23%)?312 students(44.13%),most students achieved 80% and above on safety and first aid literacy,which are 568 students(80.34%).3 Influencing factors of health literacy Infectious disease prevention literacy level(?~2=7.84,P=0.04)and chronic disease prevention literacy level(?~2=9.61,P=0.02)have statistical significance on the differences among different age groups.Chronic disease prevention literacy level(?~2=5.72,P=0.02)and Health information literacy level(?~2=7.93,P=0.00)have statistical significance on the differences among different nation groups.Safety and first aid literacy level(?~2=9.74,P=0.04)has statistical significance on the differences among different Length of military service.Infectious disease prevention literacy level(?~2=9.15,P=0.02)has statistical significance on the differences among different military ranks.Scientific view of health level(?~2=5.69,P=0.02),Infectious disease prevention literacy level(?~2=5.78,P=0.02),and Chronic disease prevention literacy level(?~2=5.78,P=0.02)have statistical significance on the differences among different marriage status groups.Basic knowledge and concept level(?~2=14.09,P=0.01)and Chronic disease prevention literacy level(?~2=10.65,P=0.03)have statistical significance on the differences among different family annual income groups.Overall health literacy level(?~2=3.97,P=0.04)has statistical significance on the differences among different prevalence of chronic diseases groups.Healthy lifestyle and behavior level(?~2=13.26,P=0.00),Safety and first aid literacy level(?~2=4.18,P=0.04),and Basic medical literacy level(?~2=10.54,P=0.00)have statistical significance on the differences among different chronic illness groups.Healthy lifestyle and behavior level(?~2=7.92,P=0.04)and Basic medical literacy(?~2=9.28,P=0.03)have statistical significance on the differences among different Self-rated health status groups.From the results of logistic regression analysis,the overall level of health literacy is affected by the number of families and the prevalence of chronic diseases.From the three aspects of literacy,the level of basic knowledge and concept is affected by family income and chronic disease;Healthy lifestyle and behavior is affected by the prevalence of chronic diseases.From the six types of health literacy level,the scientific view of health is affected by marital status.The infectious disease level is influenced by marital status.The prevention level and treatment of chronic disease are influenced by marriage status and family income.The basic medical literacy level is affected by the prevalence of chronic diseases.The health information literacy level is influenced by the nation.Conclusions:1 The Health literacy rate of student cadres in Armed Police college in2016 is higher than National health literacy level in 2016.2 The distribution of three aspects of health literacy scores are balanced,but the score of safety and first aid is the highest in the six types of health literacy,infectious disease control,chronic disease prevention,basic medical literacy level are low.It is suggested that the weakness should be strengthened in the comprehensive improvement of cadre health literacy.3 The main factors that affect the health literacy level of the cadres in armed police college are the family population and prevalence of chronic diseases status.
