Evidence Based Nursing-sensitive Safety Quality Indicators For Skilled Nursing Facilities

Objective To identify scientific,sensitive and practical nursing safety quality indicators for skilled nursing facilities,and which will help to evaluate and monitor nursing safety quality in Chinese skilled nursing facilities.Methods Nursing-sensitive and safety quality indicators as well as their calculation formulas and data collection methods,which were for skilled nursing facilities were initially identified on the basis of evidence-based medicine.The indicators were modified using Delphi technique.Results Fourteen nursing-sensitive safety quality indicators for skilled nursing facilities such as incidence of fall,incidence of aspiration or choke feed,and incidence of pulmonary infection were identified.Both of the positive coefficients in the two rounds of expert consultation were 100%,and the authoritative coefficient was 0.87.After two rounds of expert consultation,the coefficients of variation ranged from 0.00 to 0.21.The coordination coefficient ranged from 0.104 to 0.226.Conclusion The nursing-sensitive safety quality indicators for skilled nursing facilities on the basis of evidence-based medicine and Delphi technique are scientific,which can be applied to safety quality assessment.
