Clinical Research Of Simple Obesity Treatment With Catgut Implantation At Back Shu And Front-Mu Points

ObjectiveIn referring to the standards of treatment’ s effectiveness towards simple obesity,which has evaluated in the second International Research Forum of Integrated traditional Chinese and Western Medicine on multiple types of Obesity and developed by second National Association of Integrative Medicine Obesity Research Institute,this study is developed to understand the rules and mechanisms of the acupuncture point,and to find an effective clinical treatment for simple obesity.MethodsThis study was developed based on the researches on clinical cases of the simple obesity patients from the First Affiliated Hospital of Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine and Malaysia Chinese Medicine Clinic.The selected patients have fulfilled the clinical diagnosis of obesity in the Chinese and Western medical diagnosis.64 cases have selected for this study,and divided in to two groups.First group was treated catgut implantation at acupuncture point,while the other group was treated with front shu point and back mu point.Treatment was.given once a weeks,continuously for two months as a completed treatment session.The measurement of body weight,waist girth and hip girth were taken and analyzed with SPSS20.0.ResultsAmong 69 selected patients,5 of them had dropped off from the study and 64 patients had received the complete treatment.The treatment has revealed 96.9%of its effectiveness among the treatment group,where there were only 75%of the effective rate found among the control group.The finding had shown the existing of reduction of waist girth In three treatment group with the rate of 93.7%while there was only 81.2%found in the control group.Significant differences on the weight,waist girth and hip girth were found in the treatment group and control group,who received the treatment of simple obesity by using catugt implantation(P<0.05).Therefore,the results has indicate that the outcome of the treatment group is better than the control group.ConclusionThe result of this study indicated that the treatment of simple obesity by using catgut implantation in front-shu and back-mu acupuncture points and abdominal acupuncture points is effective clinically.The patients’ weight,waist girth and hip girth were found decrease after the treatment.The significant differences which found between the two groups,indicated that the outcome of the treatment group was superior to the control group.By using catgut implantation in front-shu and back-mu acupuncture points with simple acupuncture for.the treatment of simple obesity,the time that consumed during the treatment is shorter and patients have suffered less in pain.The catgut implantation method was accepted and trusted by more patients.Hence,this method should be promoted widely and used in clinical practice.
