Objectives: To probe into the TCM syndromes and constitution distribution characteristics of chronic erosive gastritis(CEG)and to identify theoverall health status of CEG patients, thus providing objective foundation for TCM diagnosis and treatment. In the meantime of diagnosing andtreating CEG in clinic, master and treat the great background of constitution as the entry point to search for the correlation among disease, constitution and syndrome, and carry out overall review and syndrome differentiation treatment.Interventional adjustment of biased constitution contributes to effectively improving development and transformation of CEG,which sufficiently reflects the TCM thoughts of holism and prevention. Methods: Clinical observation table of basic information and constitution type of CEG patients was formulated with reference to relevant literatures and diagnostic criteria;clinical surveys were carried out in CEG patients confirmed under endoscope in our hospital from January 2016 to February2017.Relevant data and information were collected.Altogether361 eligible CEG patients were enrolled in this research based on the inclusion and exclusion criteria.TCM syndromes and constitution distribution characteristics of CEG were obtained through statistical analysis inaccordance with syndrome differentiation and classification as well as constitution determination, thus their association with CEG could be investigated. Results: 1.Frequency of TCM syndromes in CEG patients followed theorder shown below: spleen-stomach damp-heat syndrome(n=93)> weakness of spleen and stomach syndrome(n=90)> stagnation of liver Qi syndrome(n=87)> syndrome of heat stagnation in liver and stomach(n=44)> stomach Yin deficiency syndrome(n=32)> gastric blood stasis syndrome(n=15).2.Frequency of constitution in CEG patients followed the order shownbelow:damp-heat constitution(n=81)> Qi depression constitution(n=67)> gentle constitution(n=52)> Yin deficiencycon stitution(n=45)= Qi deficiency constitution(n=45)> Yang deficiency constitution(n=39)> phlegm-damp constitution(n=19)> blood stasis constitution(n=12)> specific endowment constitution(n=1).3.Distribution of TCM syndromes and constitution in CEG patients showed marked differences(P<0.05).4.TCM syndromes in CEG patients were significantly correlated with constitution(P<0.05);patients with Yin deficiency constitution were likely to show stomach Yin deficiency syndrome after disease onset, while those with phlegm-damp constitution and damp-heat constitution were likely to display spleen-stomach damp-heat syndrome.Patients with Qi deficiency constitution and Yang deficiency constitution were likely to manifest as weakness of spleen and stomach syndrome;those with Qi deficiency constitution would manifest as gastric blood stasis syndrome;and those with Qi depression constitution would likely to develop stagnationof liver Qi syndrome.5.Significant differences could be seen in TCM syndromes, constitutionand major pathological manifestations(atrophy, intestinal metaplasia anddysplasia)in CEG patients(P<0.05).Spleen-stomach damp-heat syndrome, weakness of spleen and stomach syndrome and stomach Yin deficiency syndrome were the common syndromes of gastric gland atrophy;weakness of spleen and stomach syndrome, stomach Yin deficiency syndrome and spleen-stomach damp-heat syndrome were the common syndromes of intestinal metaplasia;weakness of spleen and stomach syndrome, stomach Yin deficiency syndrome and gastric blood stasis syndrome werethe common syndromes of dysplasia;Qi deficiency constitution,Yang deficiency constitution,Yin deficiency constitution and damp-heat constitution were the common constitution types of gastric gland atrophy, intestinal metaplasia and dysplasia. Conclusion: 1.During the development of CEG to atrophy-intestinal metaplasia-dysplasia,changes in its syndromes display a overall rule of deficiency syndrome and syndrome of intermingled deficiency and excess dominated by deficiency syndrome;while deficiency biased constitution plays an important role during such process, which reflects the characteristic of waxing and waning Qi and pathogen.2.There is association among disease, syndrome and constitution of CEG,with constitution being the key point.Constitution is adjustable, and interventional adjustment of biased constitution combine with syndrome differentiation can effectively improve the development and transformation of CEG.
