The Analysis Of The Living Condition Of Care Workers In Xi'an From A Perspective Of Interactive Ritual Chains

About a decade ago, an emerging social group called "care workers" appeared in the social transition period of China. The word "care workers"in China is very different from those in developed countries, which is a highly specialized type of work. In China, due to some reasons like the large population, imperfect supervision and social welfare systems, urbanization and increasing numbers of landless peasants, the specialized care workers only appeared in the first-tier cities like Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou during the last two years, in most cities, including xi'an, care workers are mostly composed of illiterate and untrained older rural women, difficult to manage and communicate and with massive fluidity. And they are somehow considered of lower social status. Moreover, due to the increase of the diseases varieties, the increasingly aging population, more one-child families, the improving living standards, the wide disparity in the number of nurses and patients, the demands of care workers from both from hospitals and patients are on the peak. However, public don't pay much attention to and don't have enough understanding about their living conditions, pressure and inner emotions, which are the obstacles for building harmonious doctor-patient relationship and hospital patterns.This thesis, based on the American sociologist Randall Collins's "interactive ritual chain (IRs)" theory, in a micro aspect, from the care workers in Xi'an, thoroughly analyzes their authentic living conditions including working status, living status, the role and status in the hospital, interaction and their psychological condition, etc to be specific, from the micro aspect of real hospitals, analyses the care workers, as a individual group, what is their status in the layered situation of hospital and how's the interaction ritual between them and the hospital, and how does emotion engine, as one of the most important resources in the interaction ritual, can flow reciprocally with the help of market for interactive ritual, and decide whether the current state of emotion engine distribution is positive and beneficial to solid unity and situation.The author did a survey of two AAA class hospitalsin xi'an, combined with the questionnaire and the "thick description" way of observation, aiming to fully understand the working and living status of care workers, building a theoretical model of interactive ritual chains, trying to explore the reasons why care workers has become the vulnerable people of emotional engine and identity symbol the margins of interactive ritual and as well as the lower class of layered situation. Through the study of the microscopic interaction and micro situation, trying to construct a reasonable integrated management system for care workers- Unified management of hospital. To alleviate the pressure on the medical industry, building a harmoniousdoctor-patient relationship, and establish a good image and enhance community hospitals should suffer the ability to form effective comprehensive support.
