The Study Of Literature And Clinical Application About Alleviating Depression Syndrome By Classical Prescriptions

Depression syndrome is a concept of disease in TCM.Over the development of Chinese medicine,there are a great many theories and writings about depression syndrome,those coming from the doctors of all the past dynasties.The first record about“Depression”can trace back to Huangdi’s Canon of Medicine far away 2000 years ago,after that,a doctor who lived in the Eastern Han Dynasty named Zhang Zhongjing written Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Disease.In this book,the author inherited and carried forward many theories in Huangdi’s Canon of Medicine,and also created many classical prescriptions to alleviate depression syndrome based on his clinical experience,such as Banxia-Houpo Decoction,Baihe-Dihuang Decoction,and Bupleurum Analogous formulas.The advent of Treatise on Febrile and Miscellaneous Disease had enriched the theory of etiology and pathogenesis of depression syndrome as well as the syndrome differentiation and treatment system and methods,it provided valuable guidance about understanding and alleviating depression syndrome for the doctor of later generations.Nowadays,classical prescriptions have been widely used in alleviating depression syndrome,it must be closely related to the guiding principle of treatment by differentiation of syndromes and the flexible way of thinking when a prescription was dispensed.In order to study the advantage of classical prescriptions in alleviating depression syndrome,I have collected 30 kinds of classical prescriptions that have ever been used to alleviating depression syndrome in the recordation of ancient and modern literature.I have analyzed the application situation of the prescriptions and discussed the pathology, pathogenesis, therapy that related to depression syndrome,develop thoughts of classical prescriptions for the clinical treatment of depressive syndrome.
