Objectives By theoretical studies and current research on nursing informatics competency in Hubei University of Chinese medicine undergraduate nursing students, and investigation on informatics competency demands of clinical nursing activity in Hubei Province Hospital Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiangyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiangyang Central Hospital, Guangdong Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese medicine, and Jiangmen Wuyi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine. we expect to understand undergraduate nursing students informatics competency and demand for informatics competency of clinical nursing activity, to analysis the existing question and reason, to explore the way to train informatics competency for undergraduate nursing students, and to provide a reference frame for promoting informatics competency education of undergraduate nursing students in the future.Methods Questionnaire survey method has been employed for this study. In the questionnaire survey, 720 undergraduate nursing students in Hubei University of Chinese Medicine and 485 nurses staff in Hubei Province Hospital Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiangyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiangyang Central Hospital, Guangdong Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese medicine, and Jiangmen Wuyi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine who took a part in. The two questionnaires forms can be classified into closed ended question formats. According to the actual situation of undergraduate nursing students and clinical nursing activity, the two questionnaires appropriately increase the breadth and depth of the content of the investigation. The two questionnaires were designed by the researchers herself, which were based on a large number of relevant literature and consulted in nursing management experts, nursing research experts, nursing education experts and informatics experts. After drafting the first draft, we have consulted many nursing management, experts nursing researchers, nursing educators, and informatics experts who studied in the fields for a long time. After the two questionnaires amending and perfecting, we took a pilot study of some small sample on undergraduate nursing students and nurse staffs, to further perfect and revise the questionnaire. The two questionnaires included the informatics competency of undergraduate nursing students questionnaire and clinical nursing activity demand of informatics competency of undergraduate nursing students questionnaire. After collecting all effective questionnaire and sorting out data, we use computer to build database. We Used Microsoft Excel 2010 software for preliminary data processing, and SPSS19.0 statistical software was applied for the further analysis.Results 1.The total of participants in undergraduate nursing students informatics competency questionnaire survey was 720 in Hubei University of Chinese Medicine, 672 valid copies were acquired, with the effective rate achieving 95.73%. The total of participants in clinical nursing activity of undergraduate nursing students informatics competency demand questionnaire survey was 485, in the Guangdong Province Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Hubei Province Hospital Traditional Chinese Medicine, Jiangmen Wuyi Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, Xiangyang Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine and Xiangyang Central Hospital, a total payment of was 485, 426 valid copies were acquired, with the effective rate achieving 94.04%.2.Including age, grade, birthplace, etc, the total of 14 aspects have an impact on the informatics competency of nursing undergraduates, different factors of undergraduate nursing students informatics competency score differences were statistically significant(P<0.05).3.Though informatics competency of undergraduate nursing students, the average score of evaluation informatics competency of nursing undergraduate students was more than 1 is 10, under 1 is 8.4.Nurse staffs were satisfied informatics competency of undergraduate nursing students, the number of people accounted for 76.76%. The nurses staff thought, nursing information system operation ability and clinical research ability of nursing undergraduate students, is deficient, accounted for 12.91% and 20.89%. 62.91% of nursing staff thought applying informatics competences for clinical research is the most important. It is important to have the informatics competency, and master the computer knowledge of the project for undergraduate nursing students.Conclusions 1.Including age, grade, birthplace, etc, the total of 14 aspects have an impact on the informatics competency of undergraduate nursing students.2.The informatics competency of undergraduate nursing students is low, and the ability to obtain, organize, use and innovate in informatics needs to be strengthened.3.Nurse staffs were satisfied informatics competency of undergraduate nursing students, but the competency of informatics needs to be further improved.4.We should pay a pay attention to informatics education for undergraduates nursing students, and standardize nursing informatics education, strengthen the construction of informatics environment, promote and improve the cultivation of informatics competency of nursing undergraduate students.
