ObjectiveTo investigate the general condition, the level of health behavior and mental health status of the disabled elderly who lived in rural areas, to explore the factors that influence theirs health behavior and the relationship between the health behavior and mental health status, to provide theoretical basis for the government and health workers for improving the health status of the disabled elderly in rural areas. MethodsBy using the Multi-stage random cluster sampling method, twenty-seven villages that belong to Kaifeng were extracted and the elderly whose age were beyond 60 and can't take care of themselves completely were selected. 472 disabled elderly who would like to cooperate with the investigators were investigated. The tools used for the survey consisted five parts, namely the general information questionnaire, the General Self-efficacy Scale(GSES), the Self-Rating Anxiety Scale(SAS), the Self-Rating Depression Scale(SDS) and the Health Promoting Lifestyle Profile ?(HPLP?). The data were analyzed by using Statistical Package for Social Science(SPSS) 18.0 software. Univariate analysis was performed by t test and single factor variance, the multivariate analysis was adopted by multiple regression analysis, and the related factors were analyzed by the method of Pearson correlation analysis. Results1 The health behavior of the disabled elderly in rural areasThe total score of health behavior of the disabled elderly in rural areas was 109.73±16.80, the mean scores((?)± s) of every domain of health behavior ranging from the highest to the lowest were Interpersonal Relations(2.35±0.43), Stress Management(2.34±0.37), Nutrition(2.29±0.30), Spiritaul Growth(2.08±0.49), Health Responsibility(1.83±0.39), Sport(1.76±0.47).2 The Univariate analysis of health behavior of the disabled elderly in rural areasIn the Univariate analysis, the scores of health behavior of males were higher than the scores of females, the scores of the domin of Stress Management, Health Responsibility, Sport have statistically significant difference in different gender(p<0.01);The scores of the disabled elderly whose age are over 80 are lower than other groups, and there are statistically significant difference in the domin of Interpersonal Relations, Spiritual Growth,Health Responsibility, Sport; people with higher degree of school score relatively higher than the lower degree; the scores of health behavior of the disabled elderly who have spouse are higher than those who don't; the people who have new rural cooperative medical score higher than who don't have; the scores of health behavior of the disabled elderly have statistically significant difference between the different groups of the different burden of economy, degree of disability, living style, the caring satisfaction, self-efficacy.3 The multiple linear regression analysis of the health behavior of the rural disabled elderlyThe factors influencing the score of the Spiritaul Growth domain of health behavior of the rural disabled elderly are self-efficacy, degree of disability, age, caring satisfaction, having new rural cooperative medical or not, degree of education; the factors influencing the domain of the Health Responsibility are self-efficacy, degree of education, degree of disability, caring satisfaction; the factors influencing the domain of the Sport are self-efficacy, degree of disability, degree of education, caring satisfaction; the key factors that influence Nutrition domain are self-efficacy, degree of education, care satisfaction, burden of economy, gender; the factors influencing the domain of the Interpersonal Relations are self-efficacy, degree of disability, care satisfaction, degree of education, gender. The key factors that influence Stress Management domain are self-efficacy, degree of disability, degree of education, living style; The key factors which influence the total score of health behavior are self-efficacy, degree of disability, degree of education, care satisfaction.4 The mental health status of the disabled elder in rural areasThere are 98 person who have anxiety among the investigated disabled elderly(22.0%), and 124 person who have depression(27.8%). The stand score of anxiety is 45.66±9.31, and the score of depression is 46.69±7.28.5 The relationship between the health behavior and mental health status of the disabled elderlyThe analysis results show that there exists a significant negative correlation between health behavior of the disabled elderly and theirs mental status(p<0.01). The correlation score was-0.309~-0.582. Conclusions1 The health behavior of the elderly with disability in rural areas is poor, the factors influencing the score of health behavior of the disabled elderly are gender, age, degree of education, living style, degree of disability, having new rural cooperative medical or not, burden of economy, caring satisfaction, self-efficacy.2 The mental health status of the rural disabled elderly is relatively lower. There're many people who have anxiety and depression, and the stand score of anxiety and depression of the elderly is high.3 The scores of health behavior of the disabled elderly are negatively correlate with their mental health status, so when the health workers make interventions for improving health status of the disabled elderly should take the particularity of the disabled elderly into consideration.
