Chen shiduo, which is also named as Jingzhi, Yuangong, was a Chinese medicine doctor in early Tsing Dynasty. He was born and had been grown in Shaoxing city, Zhe Jiang Province during Kangxi Kingdom period. Remarkably abundance of books about Chinese medicine have been written by him, but most of them were lost and left their names recorded in history manual, so we can touch few of them which were handed down. Despite the books handed down remains little, those books includes not only the systematic theory of herbs and formulas which of great academic value, but also great innovation, ideas which other than traditional medicine of Tsing Dynasty ages. Especially, he announced his books and ideas was from Gods. We can see that is why his thoughts and teachings arouse criticism from the mainstream, until modern time. Our older generation doctors in 20 thcentury gradually use Dr.Chen’s preaches as guideline and have found quick and profound curative effect replying from patients. So Dr.Chen’s books have been spotted by more and more people, articles and books written on them.This article consists of two dimensions,research on abstract of chen shiduo’s medical work and academic thoughts respectively, aiming to guide better applications clinically.The first dimension is about abstracting every book of Dr. Chen which can be founded, then evaluating them.The second dimension is to summary and arrangement his theoretical essence into five aspects: basic theory, zang-fu theory structure, specialized curing methods, formula specialty, Taoism guide.The first aspect, is his basic theory. Despite Dr. Chen did has ordinary five-elemental relation recognition, he had proposed 6 totally different kinds of relationship between the five elements. He added uterus into Zang, and heart pericardium into Fu, so as to formed a new theory of Six-Zang & Seven-Fu. Ming-men is highly emphasized because he thought it is vital key of human physical activities. More over, he has extended the acknowledgment of Heart-Kidney, cited in his book that heart & kidney is connected by heart pericardium, liver & gall blader, uterus. He has also brought out one diverse theory from Inner Canon of Huangdi that Stomach is gatekeeper of Kidney, then it is been further discuss in his books.The second aspect is zang-fu theory structure. Dr. Chen discussed features and relations between every zang and fu, all together they form the basics of his specialty.The third aspect is that in his internal medical theory, his curing target zang-fu is always different when comes to clinical practices. And because he considered Ming-men a vital warming part of human body, so warmth healing is his most attention one.The fourth aspect of his specialty is located in herbs and formulas. Dr.Chen developed on the old formula theory of “7fomular, 10doses”, specially good at using large doses. He was used to modify ancient formulas into new one so as to fit the circumstances of current patient. Dr. Chen knew how to use single herb or double-herbs well to make the curing, specially for Ginseng, white atractylodes rhizome, Radix Rehmanniae’s applications.The last aspect of this article focuses is that, the whole theory of Dr.Chen looks like been merged in Taoism phenomenon.
