Chen Shiduo,a well-known doctor of traditional Chinese medicine in early Qing Dynasty, wrote more than 20 medical works all his life. However, unfortunately, only 8 books are existing.Nowadays researchers have studied his theories of traditional Chinese medicine and clinical medical knowledge a lot,but have failed to pay attention on his metaphors which apper a great number on his medical textbooks.Metaphors are used to explain matters or things that are too difficult to be understood or too abstract to be comprehended.Traditional Chinese medicine has a unique way of thinking of the image—"Analogism",which constructs the theories and clinical medical knowledge of traditional Chinese medicine and plays an important role in the traditional Chinese medicine. And the metaphor is a significant part of Analogism. This paper is concerned to Chen Shiduo’s metaphors which involves "natural phenomena" and "human relationships with social phenomena".There are quite a considerable number of "relationships between parents and their children","relationships between emperors and subjects","events about invasions and repelling enemies" and so on which are very special in Chen Shiduo’s works.Chen Shiduo’s metaphors are focusing on certain relationships or phenomena, relatively steady without many changes and the same metaphors contain complex relationships. And these metaphors not only makes hard and obscure Chinese medicine knowledge easier to understand, but also improves the traditional Chinese medicine theory.
