Badain Jaran Desert,as the second large desert of China.Besides mega dunes, there are 110 perennial lakes in this region. The water region of Badain Jaran Desert has become the hot, important area in research field as the leading of these issues. This study analyzes the spatial-temporal characteristic and dynamic factors of ground water level base on the investigation data in Badain Jaran Desert.Temporal characteristics are analyzed in different scale such as diurnal,month-seasonal,annual variations. The dynamic of the groundwater level changing is analyzed by contrasts with the precipitation and weather condition.Spatial characteristics are analyzed by the Kriging interpolation and system cluster methods. The results as follow:1.The balance between water supply and loss at 8:00 and 16:00.In day time, the water loses more than supplies, the groundwater level is increasing and vice versa. The speed of loss is about three-times than supply speed according to the interval time calculation.2.The precipitation mainly clusters in summer(June to September). The linear regression analysis shows that significant positive correlation between groundwater level and precipitation. But the groundwater level shows declining trend in this season means precipitation can't be the main supply of groundwater in this region.3.Weather condition is the main factor which cause groundwater level fluctuation abnormally. The highest and lowest level are appearing on 8:00 and 16:00 respectively in sunny usually while the most level will appear in midnight in other weather condition.Statistical results shows that cloudy weather was the most influence including sunny to cloudy and cloudy to sunny.4.Negative relationship among lakes in spatial characteristic reveals different supply approaches for each other.Adjacent mountains effect groundwater level slightly but the significant correlation with the hydrogeological condition illustrates that deep groundwater supply every lake dependently.5.The prediction analysis shows that ARIMA(1,0,2)(0,1,0)model can predict the water level in the future accurately. So this model van be used to make up the missing data and correct the abnormal data of groundwater level in Badain Jaran Desert.
