With the pace of national innovative strategy to accelerate, the emphasis of state on independent innovation capability has increased dramatically. In China, participating in university-industry collaboration has become an important way for enterprises to obtain innovative capabilities. More and more enterprises are participating in the U-I collaboration innovation system. With the development of modern economics and technology, U-I cooperative innovation has jumped into the Enterprise-based stage. Currently, the new innovative mechanism has been initially established, the intensity of its breadth and depth also strengthened. The benign cooperation between universities and industries can not only effectively reduce the cost and risk of enterprise R&D activities, improve enterprise’s technical capabilities, but also provide effective support for scientific and technological achievements transformation in China. Thus enhancing and improving the important role of universities in promoting social and economic development. To promote the performance and development of U-I collaboration effectively, Scholars committed to find out the factors affect the cooperation performance. Currently, the domestic scholars who focused on the problem of factors affecting performance mainly put attention on characteristics(organizational culture/absorption capacity), the cooperation process(resource/cooperative agreement length/ formalize partnership), technical features(technical field / position in the industrial chain) and the external environment(government / market environment). Studies on the influence of multidimensional proximity factors on the performance of U-I collaboration has not yet started. In this study, the research object is the behavior of U-I collaboration. We summarized a lot of existing domestic and international researches, use the number of joint-patent to measure the performance of U-I collaboration and then pay attention to analyze the impact of interaction between geographical proximity and others(technological proximity/social proximity) on cooperative performance. We use the patent data of year 2012 to verify our hypothesis. The results showed that: geographical proximity, technological proximity and social proximity can all promote the U-I collaboration performance. The interaction between geographical proximity and technological proximity and the interaction between geographical proximity and social proximity present a substitution effect with a medium degree impact on innovation performance.
