| The issue of online rumor has become an international topic. The transmission of Internet rumor presents new tendency in the age of the new media, and the problem upon how to deal with the Internet rumor has become the vital focus for the scholars’ researches. Therefore, this paper deems the Internet rumor as the research target, and literature research method, case analysis method and content analysis method are used to start the researches upon theories and current status of rumor and Internet rumor,making systemic researches upon the historical background,reasons, macroscopic communicating effect of Internet rumor. And “MH370 Accident” is chosen as the case study, combined with the method of questionnaire, and the period and new features of rumor transmission are further organized. At last, the current status of rumor governance in our country is concluded, and analysis and consideration are performed upon these questions in accordance with the experience and enlightenment of dealing with the Internet rumor in foreign countries, and correspondent improvement advices are also supplied.The first chapter is the introduction. It mainly analyzes the research background, research purpose, research method, research thread, research focus, research challenge and research innovations of online rumor in the era of new media. Through retrieving and organizing related researches home and abroad, it summarizes the present research situation and primary achievements of related scholars home and abroad on online rumor. And they are: Research on the concept of rumor, Research on the social spreading mechanism of rumor, Research on the psychological mechanism of rumor.The second chapter makes further interpretation of the connotation of rumor and online rumor. Through research on spreading formula and definitions of classic rumor, it analyzes the development trend from rumor to online rumor. In the section “In the era where new media rises” of this chapter, it summarizes the background and reasons of online rumor and makes a summary and classification of influential online rumor in several provinces of china recently.The third part adopts “5W” theory from Lasswell’s classical communications as the theoretical framework and takes the event of “MH370 Accident” as an example. It uses case-study method and questionnaire surveys and makes further analysis of the spreading model of online rumor on Micro-blog and Wechat platform. In the era of new media, the spreading path transforms from “5A” to “4A”, the network communication in the era of “4A” has formed and four stages are demonstrated. According to the questionnaire survey, we recognize the hierarchy of Internet users in Hubei Province and their attitudes towards online rumor.The forth part researches on the macro social effect of online rumor. It illustrates that online rumor could have an effect on the cognition for public opinion climate as well as on media agenda setting. Besides, it makes a dialectical and objective analysis of the function of online rumor in affecting agenda setting and concludes the social harm of online rumor.In the last part, it reflects on how to manage online rumor. By referring to advanced experiences and ideas from abroad, it puts forward appropriate suggestions. In addition, it introduces cures for online rumor from the perspective of law, industry self-management, technology and individuals. At last, it analyzes the measures taken by Hubei Province in dealing with online rumor by the case of rumor “Wuhan fog and haze”. |
