With the development of social productivity and technologicalprogress, people’s standard of living getting higher and higher,accordingly, requirements of the home environment are increasing. Thesmart home control system can be grouped into two types: wired andwireless. Compared with wired one, the wireless smart home smart homehas a unique advantage, eliminating the need for wiring troubles, flexiblycontrolled, ease of installation and commissioning.Because of low powerconsumption, flexible networking, high anti-interference ability, highsecurity, etc., ZigBee has been booming.In order to solve theinteroperability problem,the ZigBee Alliance has developed a widevariety of innovative standards for different markets,such as Homemanagement,energy management, Health care and fitness, and so on.At present, there are a large number of ZigBee protocol-based smarthome products, but most of them, especially in the domestic market, areusing a private protocol based on ZigBee, which is not suitable forinterconnection. To solve this problem, we studied the ZigBee protocoland ZigBee Home automation Public Profile referring to the officialdocuments, and then discussed the intelligent home control systemarchitecture. A USB dongle-based realization of the program has beengiven in the paper.We developed the monitor and control software onAndroid Tablet using the object-oriented design methods. The operatorcan control all the ZigBee devices registered into the control system bytouching the icon and can monitor the current device status in the screen.And the field engineer can configure and manage the information aboutthe binding table, scene mode tables, attributes report, deviceidentification, schedules, equipment group, and so on. By using theZigBee attribute reporting mechanisms, the device status can bemaintained the same as actual.With the aid of the third party speechrecognizing engine, operator can control the devices registered by voice tothe desired status. The control system supports MODBUS TCP/IP slave function, which can response to the third-party SCADA software orclients.We built a20devices platform in the lab in order to makeexperiments and verification. It is verified that the designed system iscompliant with the ZigBee home automation public profile by ZigBeepacket capture tool. Through this research project, I have gained a furtherunderstanding of the ZigBee protocol and the ZHA profile, and I havebeen familiar with the Android architecture and software developmentskills. In general, all the work for this thesis has accumulated valuableexperience for me and provides a good foundation for the furtherdevelopment of the products later.
