In the summer of2012,Zhejiang TV broadcasted an entertainment show "TheVoice of China" which has became the most profound memory of the screen. For thishot show, the audience and the media have different points of view. Some people saythat it has the advanced creative concept and the production effect is excellent. Othersthink that this show has too much hype, and details do not stand up to scrutiny. Nomatter how, the program has a successful operation mode and a new conceptinnovation. And these conditions turned the show into a media event. Through “TheVoice of China” program broadcasted, zhejiang TV has got high ratings. At the sametime, the TV station also received the affirmation of State Administration of Radio,Film and Television.As the development of science and technology, television can be broadcast liveand be real-time interaction with the audience deeply. So there has formed a kind ofinteractive relationship between the audience and television. The linkage effect ofsocial media and traditional media made the interactive more extensive and profound.And media has made a lot of media events with using this advantage.In Daniel. DaiYang and Elihu Katz specifically for the media events written"media events: history live" book, they think the media event as a special type oftelevision event, a mass national or world class “Festival”. This book makes acomprehensive study of media events from the Angle of ritual culture. This papermainly uses the theory of Dai Yang and Katz,and tries to analyze the program in theirresearch framework, pointing out the constituent elements、show characteristics andtheoretical model of the program as a media event.This paper is divided into five parts: the first part is the introduction, mainlydiscusses the origin of the topic, literature review, research methods,researchsignificance and so on;The second part tries to explain the definition character andsocial function of media events,through the collection and study of theory ofliterature. The third part analyzes the elements of media event of“The Voice Of China”.The fourth part analyzes the positive and negative functions of media eventsunder the new media environment; The fifth part is the conclusion of the article.
