Since the 1980 s, the level of our country’s economic reform and industrialization is higher and higher, and the rate of urbanization accelerates as well. The need for labor forces of cities’ development and construction is increasing all the time, the “barriers” between urban and rural areas are gradually weakening under the pressure of market at the same time, and numerous of labor forces have transported from rural areas to urban areas. These rural labor forces which move to urban areas have formed a special group which is usually called “Migrant Workers” in our country’s urbanization. Influenced by the urban-rural dual structure and some factors in migrant workers themselves, although these migrant workers live in cities, they are still unable to acquire the basic conditions of “whole family migrant”, so they have to travel between urban and rural areas just like “migratory birds”. As migrant workers work in cities, a number of left-behind women have to be detained in countries. According to the report of All-China Women’s Federation in 2011, the amount of our country’s left-behind women has exceeded 50 million, and this group of women has become a phenomenon which couldn’t be ignored. The reason for this phenomenon is various. Since these women have to be separated from their husbands for a long time, they must take the responsibilities of production and caring families which should have been taken by both husband and wife. High labor intensity, great mental strain and absence of safety are the main problems that rural left-behind women who have left-behind experiences need to face. In addition, the influence left-behind experiences have on the family relationships of left-behind women is worth paying attention to. The separation of husband and wife results in the increase of heterogenicity between husband and wife, the lack of safety and communication, as well as the degeneration of the family’s function in left-behind experiences. Except for the relationships between husband and wife, parent-child relationships is also a significant problem which bothers left-behind women. The absence of father makes the parent-child relationships in the family of left-behind women fragile and alienated more easily in daily life. At the same time, because left-behind women just have limited education, they have difficulties in the way of disciplining, fostering children and communicating with children, which directly impacts on the relationships between them. This dissertation takes previous research for reference, using the method of field survey and participant observation to investigate women who have left-behind experiences in some villages in P town which is located in G City, Shanxi Province, studies the influence which left-behind experiences have on the family relationships of women(including the relationships between husband and wife, as well as the one between parents and children), and analyses the reason. Later, this dissertation intend to engage in social work intervention with the demand of assesement, taking advantage of professional methods of social work such as case work, group work and communication work, using the theory of social gender, the theory of Satirian family therapy model and the theory of social support as theoretical basis and following individual demands, family demands, community support demands of women who have left-behind experiences. In case work and group work, for example, the main content of social work intervention is to help left-behind women to relieve psychological pressure, strengthen communication and contact among family members, and establish mutual-help group and get social support. Finally, by building a social support system, integrating community resources, and creating community culture, this dissertation desires to build the community which can make women feel happy.
