"Value neutrality" is an important part of Max Weber’s social science methodology,which was influenced by its theory forerunner and social environment."Value neutrality"combined the theoretical perspective of German Neo-Kantian with British and Frenchpositivism, German historicism, and was influenced by the social background about Germansociety development dilemma, German university education environment, and Germanacademic "value controversy"."Value neutrality" spread throughout Max Weber’s whole ideological and theoreticalsystem, Weber has never systematically sorted out and made it a clear theoretical conception.This dissertation strictly distinguishes the science value positions of "Value neutrality",analyzes role that different value factors of "Value neutrality" play in social science research,and inquires the meanings of "value neutrality", which reflects rational characteristics andPluralism characteristics.In Max Weber’s opinion,"value neutrality" is a type of methodological principle with thetune of objectivism, and separating completely the researcher’s evaluation of subjective valuefrom experience of reality, which makes the theoretical significance of structuring themethodological principle of social science, maintaining objectiveness of social science theory,and clearing out the relationship between science and religion, and the practical significanceof advancing the rational development of human being, and promoting the scientificdevelopment of social undertakings.
