The Construction Of Max Weber's Methodology Of Social Science

Max Weber's Methodology of Social Science has a dominant position in his Social Theory.It is not an independent part,as Theory of Science(Wissenschaftslehre),of his Social Theory,such as Sociology of Law,Sociology of Dominance,and theories about social actions of economic organization,or political organization.On the contrary,it constitutes Weber 's whole Social Theory,and funtions as a logical grundwork of that theory.Because,when Weber analyzes some important issues about modern Social Theory Tradition,and Political Philosophy,what concpets that he uses to analyze are concept of Understanding(Verstehen),and Value-Freedom(Wertfreiheit).They construct Weber's key analytic instruments,like Idealtype as Analysis of Typology,Causal Causation as Analysis of Embryology,and Rationality(including ethical rationality and rationality of law)as Analysis of Technology;and analysis procedures.They show their huge influence towards Political Philosophy,and Philosophy of Right,via Weber's Sociology of Religion,Sociology of Domination,and Sociology of Law.Thus,what makes Weber 's Social Theory be possible,is his very Methdology of Social Science.But,when Weber constructs this Methodology,he faces a huge constructional dilemma.Because an individual not only convey its meaning,value and freedom in its actions and in everyday life;but also convey the procedure of rationality which is manifested from the social order where individual's meaning,value and freedom function.And this procedure of rationality is an analytical procedure of"Methodology-Logic",it enters into an understanding-action of individual from its meaning,value;and it also contains value-freedom and its implications.But,individual achieves its freedom in the social order where contains social relationship in the form of "right——distribute",such as law,domination,and bureaucratization.Then,the construction of Weber's Methodology,on the one hand,starts from contructions of "Interpretating-Reference",Analysis of Typology,and Analysis of Embryology,via concept of understanding and value-freedom.On the other hand,there are some conflicts both between implications of value-freedom,and between concept of understanding and value-freedom.Thus,this study will procede from this core question:it mean that Weber's Methodology seems to risk a problem of self-deconstruction when it analyses social orders.
