[Objectives] To investigate the effects of ADOPT problem-solving mode as the theoretical framework to implement individualized nursing intervention for colostomy patients’self-care ability, adaptation level and the incidence of colostomy related complications.[Methods] 80 Colorectal Cancer Patients with Permanent Stoma of the first time line of surgical treatment in November 2014 to August 2015 were selected to be samples, who were from Colorectal Cancer Center of Affiliated Third Hospital of Kunming Medical University. They were randomly divided into the control group and the intervention group. The intervention group were intervened ADOPT mode as the theoretical framework to implement individualized nursing intervention for colostomy patients. The patients in the control group were according to the standardized nursing procedures for nursing education and rehabilitation guidance.Colostomy self-care ability questionnaire and colostomy adjustment inventory-20 was used to evaluate the patients’self-care ability and adaptation level after the patient was discharged for 1 months. At the same time to compare two groups of patients with the incidence of complications.[Results] This study recycling effective questionnaire 77 cases, the control group 37 and the experimental group 40 colostomy patients completed this study. Two groups of patients on admission population and sociology data comparison, there was no statistically significant difference (P>0.05);The total scores of the self-care ability of the patients in the control group and in the experimental group were (43±6.1) and (54.6±4.3)after the patient was discharged for 1 months, respectively, t=-9.2,two groups patients y had significant difference (p<0.05).In the control group only (17/37,46%) of self-care ability at higher levels, but higher levels of intervention group patients (36/40,89%);The total scores of the social psychological adaptation scale of the patients in the control group or in the experimental group were (31.8±2.7)or (40.5±3.1), t=-13.4, two groups patients y had significant difference (p < 0.05) after the patient was discharged for 1 months. The control group (14/37,39%)of the patients in the medium adaptation level, (23/37,6 l%)of patients in low adaptation level; The intervention group had (3/40,8%) of the patients with a high adaptation level, (18/40,45%) of the patients in the medium adaptation level, only(19/40,47%)of the patients in the low adaptation level;Colostomy complications occurred in the control group 1 leases (30%) and the intervention group occurred in 4 (10%)after the patient was discharged for 1 months, two groups of patients with colostomy complications incidence, two groups patients had significant difference (p< 0.05).[Conclusion] Individualized nursing intervention of ADOPT mode as the theoretical framework could improve the colostomy patients’self-care abilities, adaptation level and reduce the colostomy related complications.
