Objectives: 1.To describe the current situation of self-perceived burden, family support and survival quality of hemodialysis patients; 2.To analyze the relationship among family support, survival quality and self-perceived burden of hemodialysis patients; 3. To explore the factors affecting self-perceived burden of hemodialysis patients and to provide theoretical evidence for nursing measures. Methods: Random sampling was used to recruit hemodialysis patients from December 2014 to May 2015.The patients were hospitalized in the two tertiary first-class hospital in Hengyang.Research instruments include a social-demographic sheet, Self-perceived Burden Scale(SPBS), Family Support Scale, The MOS 36-item Short Form Health Survey(SF-36). SPSS18.0 statistical software was used to analyze the data collected. Statistical methods included statistical description, two sample test, one-way ANOVA, stepwise multiple linear regression analysis and Pearson correlation coefficients. Results: 1.The total average score of self-perceived burden of hemodialysis patients was(32.47±9.87) points and remained in the intermediate level. 85.2% of the subjects had different levels of self-perceived burden: 18 cases(14.8%) had no self-perceived burden, 24 cases(19.7%) had mild levels, 44 cases(36.1%) had moderate levels, and 36 cases(29.5%) had severe levels; the economic dimension in the Self-perceived Burden Scale had the highest mean score((3.82±1.30) points), while item 8among various items in the Self-perceived Burden Scale had the highest mean score((3.94±1.32) points). 2.The total mean score of family support of the subjects was(9.40±2.86) points and at the intermediate level; item 14 and 12 had the lowest mean score and the highest mean score among various items in PPS-Fa; among the eight dimensions in the Quality of life Scale, the physiological role had the lowest mean score((19.05±30.33) points), while the physiological function had the highest mean score((65.37±26.7) points); the results of Pearson correlation coefficients were as follows: The total score of family support and the scores of various dimensions of survival quality had statistically significant negatively correlated with the total score of self-perceived burden, and the correlation coefficients were-0.526,-0.336,-0.469,-0.314,-0.383,-0.510,-0.417,-0.295 and-0.491, respectively. 3.The one-way ANOVA showed that: Self-perceived burden scores had statistically significant correlation with gender, household incomes and complications(P< 0.05). 4. The stepwise multiple linear regression analysis showed that: Gender, family income, complication and family support were the main factors affecting patients’ self-perceived burden(P<0.01).Conclusions: 1. Hemodialysis patients had heavy self-perceived burden, and 65.6% of them suffer intermediate and severe self-perceived burden.2. Hemodialysis patients had intermediate level of family support.Among the eight dimensions in the Quality of life Scale, the physiological role and the general health at lower levels. 3. Gender, family income, complication and family support are the main factors affecting patients’ self-perceived burden. 4. A statistically significant medium negative correlation between self-perceived burden and family support(r=-0.526,p<0.01), indicating the lower the family support, the stronger the self-perceived burden levels. 5. The self-perceived burden levels had statistically significant negative correlation with survival quality levels(p<0.001), indicating that subjects who had the stronger survival quality levels had lower self-perceived burden levels.
