Objective:To explore the relationship between the serum gastrin, pepsinogen, the expression of the Mucin 5AC protein and the canceration of the gastric polyp, and its clinic significance. Methods: A total of 108 patients with gastric polyp were recruited to the study group, 41 healthy volunteers were recruited to the control group. RIA and TRFIA were used respectively to detect the serum gastrin level, the PG level, which included PGⅠand PGⅡ. The ratio between PGⅠand PGⅡ was also calculated. The expression of the Mucin 5AC protein was detected by immunohistochemical in normal gastric mucosa, fundic gland polyp, hyperplastic polyp, adenoma polyp and gastric cancer.Results:1. Compared with the control group, the serum gastrin level(67.76±34.21pg/ml) is significantly higher in the study group, this difference shows a statistical significance(t=3.394, P=0.001).2. Compared with the control group, different serum gastrin level was detected in different pathological types of polyps(F=4.21, P=0.007), different sizes of polyps(F=4.02, P=0.02), different numbers of polyps(F=5.11,P=0.007) as well as different locations of polyps(F=5.21, P=0.002), all differences show statistical significances.3. Compared with the adenoma polyp, the PGⅠ and PGR level of the fundic gland polyp is significantly higher, the difference also shows astatistical significance(P<0.05).4. Compared with the gastric adenocarcinomaris, the expression of Mucin 5AC protein in normal gastric mucosa, fundic gland polyp and hyperplastic polyp is significantly higher, all differences show statistical significances(P<0.05), the expression of Mucin 5AC protein both in fundic gland polyp and hyperplastic polyp is higher than adenoma polyp, all differences show statistical significances(P<0.05).Conclusions:1. Compared with the control group, the serum gastrin level in different types of gastric polyps is higher. It related to the occurrence, location, size and number of polyps, the correlation between the serum gastrin level and the adenoma polyp is more closely.2. Compared with the control group, the pepsinogen level in patients with gastric polyp is higher, but is lower in adenoma polyp group. Further study needs to be done via enlarged sample to explore the possible relationship between them.3. As for the prediction of the canceration of the gastric polyp, it shows a possible important value to detect the expression of Mucin 5AC protein.4. The combined detection of serum gastrin, pepsinogen and the expression of Mucin 5AC protein has showed a possibly considerable clinical significance in the process of gastric polyp occurrence and malignant transformation, it may provide clinical evidence for the treatment and follow-up of the patients with gastric polyp.
