[Objective]:To compare the liver volume measurement by enhanced MDCT and enhanced MR and evaluate the accuracy of the liver volume measurement using enhanced MR.[Materials and methods]:From November 2011 to October 2012,a total 36 patients(male29,female7)underwent both enhanced MDCT and MR before liver transplantation or partial liver resection. The interval between two kinds of examinations should be no more than 10 days.During the interval, patients didn’t undergo any treatment.MDCT was taken by pre-contrast,arterial phase and portal venous phase.MR was taken by pre-contrast,arterial phase, portal venous phase and delayed phase. The original data transfered to workstation, use the portal venous phase data to 3D multi-tissue mode reconstruction, and measure the volume of total liver, left lobe, right lobe and lesion, and analysed by t-test.[Results]:The volume of the total liver, left lobe, right lobe and lesion estimated by MDCT were (1876.28±630.15)cm3,(644.00±326.50)cm3,(1232.31±516.12)cm3, (674.69±508.21)cm3, respectively. Those of MR were (1893.86±631.48) cm3, (638.28±352.84)cm3, (1257.66±538.64)cm3, (673.69±548.47)cm3,respectively.The differences of total liver volume, left lobe, right lobe and lesion separately measured by MSCT and MR have no statistically significant.[Conclusion]:Liver volume can be accurately measured by MR.But for the higher soft tissue resolution of MR,no radiation damage and biliary imaging, ect.,MR is expected to become one-stop-shop examination to make diagnosis and access the pacients who suffered liver disease and undergoing liver resection.
