Abstract Objective:To describe the condition of health literacy and treatment adherence among the elderly patients with diabetes in Yanji; To analysis the influence factors of the elderly health literacy and treatment adherence, and to analysis the correlation between health literacy and treatment adherenceMethods:The convenience sampling method is adopted to335diabetes patients aged60in four communities and in Yanbian university hospital, the second people’s hospital of yanbian and Yanji hospital. Patients were asked to fill a series of questionnaire which includes the Social demographic characteristics questionnaire, Diabetes health literacy scale, and the Designed diabetes treatment adherence scale. Descriptive statistics were used to describe the patients’ characteristics and the condition of Health literacy and Treatment adherence; chi-square test were used to analysis the differences between the level of Health literacy and Social and demographic; Independent t-test and One-way ANOVA were used to analysis population and disease risk factors difference of Treatment adherence. Spearman correlation analysis were used to compare social psychology factors difference of Health literacy and Treatment adherence, and analysis their correlation.Results:(1) Yanji in elderly patients with diabetes health literacy to173.56±63.18,22.39%of the subjects belong to the lack of health literacy,10.15%of the subjects belong to critical health literacy,67.46%of the subjects belong to health literacy is enough. Lack of health literacy in age≥70, no spouse, junior middle school and the following, no job, income of1500yuan or less, the course of five years or less. Treatment adherence to50.67±7.96mm, the average scores of treatment adherence between different dimensions of order from high to low is according to the medical compliance (3.21±0.61), medication compliance (3.03± 0.62), health behavior compliance (2.78±0.73) and diet adherence (2.67±0.86).(2) Health literacy is relative to gender, nationality, age, the presence of a spouse, work status, cultural degree, economic income, medical insurance, duration, and presence of complications and so on. One dimension Medication in treatment adherence is relative’to gender, marriage, work status, cultural degree, economic income,. insurance, duration and type of merger complications; the medical compliance is relative to age, marriage, work status, cultural degree, economic income, insurance, course and whether the merger related types of complications and complications; Dietary adherence is relative to job status, cultural degree, economic income, course and whether merger related types of complications and complications; Health behavior compliance is relative to gender, nationality, marital, cultural degree, economic income, insurance, course and whether the merger related types of complications and complications;(3) Dimensions of health literacy and treatment adherence have different degree of correlation. Overall health literacy is significantly positively correlated to medication adherence (r=0.267, p<0.01), according to the medical compliance (r=0.2437, p<0.01), health behavior compliance (r=0.402, p<0.01) and has no impact on dietary adherence; Understand quality have correlation with four dimensions of treatment adherence, it related to the size of the health behavior compliance (r=0.415, p<0.01), according to the medical compliance (r=0.288, p<0.288), medication adherence (r=0.285, p<0.285) and diet adherence (r=0.115, p<0.05). Ability to calculate correlation size respectively health behavior compliance (r=0.419, p<0.01), medication adherence (r=0.269, p<0.01) and follow the medical compliance (r=0.202, p<0.01), and no correlation with dietary adherence.(4) Multiple stepwise linear regression analysis showed:There are educational level, age, marital status, course of disease and gender to influence health literacy, altogether they explained50%of the total variation; Influencing factors of treatment compliance are health literacy, course of disease, educational level, marital status and medical insurance, the common interpretation of the total variance of the health literacy is24.1%.Conclusions:(1) The elderly diabetes patients’health literacy in Yanji is at a higher level, there are still have the stiuation of low health literacy among them. So strengthen the health education is impotant, for improving the level of health literacy.(2) The overall level of treatment compliance was above the middle level, the average is50.67±7.96, but the compliance of diet and health behavior is poor, further propaganda of importance on diet and health behavior for patients with diabetes mellitus is needed.(3) The educational level and marital status have influence on health literacy and treatment compliance. The department should consider the differences of different populations, patients and family members are required and encouraged to strengthen self management behavior.(4) The cultural characteristics of ethnic minority areas should be considered to strengthen publicity and emphasize the importance of treatment compliance, with a variety of ways to arouse the attention of their own health awareness and the level of health literacy, aimming to inprove their treatment compliance in the...
