Objective To investigate the current status of health literacy,social support and medication adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes in Changsha City,Hunan Province;to analyze the correlation between social support and medication adherence and health literacy in patients with type 2 diabetes;and to explore the influence factors of health literacy in patients.To provide relevant reference for clinical health care workers and medical service health care providers to develop relevant interventions of effectively improving the health literacy level of patients,strengthening their self-management and delaying or preventing the occurrence of fatal complications.Methods The study is a descriptive study.Inpatients with type 2 diabetes diagnosed in two tertiary general hospitals in Changsha City from April20 to November 2018 were selected as subjects.A total of 282 eligible patients were selected using cluster sampling.The tools used in the survey were a self-designed demographic data questionnaire,Health Literacy Management Scale(He LMS),Social Support Rating Scale(SSRS),and Morisky Medication Adherence Scale-8items(MMAS-8).The statistical analysis software was SPSS18.0,and to analyze the data by using statistical description,one-way ANOVA,two-sample mean comparison t test,Kruskal-Willis H test,multiple linear stepwise regression analysis and Spearman correlation analysis.Results(1).The total health literacy of patients with type 2 diabetes is(100.25±10.91),and the proportion of patients with health literacy is69.5%.The scores of the four dimensions are:information acquisition ability(36.65±6.72),interaction ability(38.59±3.67),improvement of health intention(16.98±2.21),and economic support willingness(8.07±1.88).(2).The total social support score of patients with type 2 diabetes is(39.79±5.76),and the scores of each dimension are: objective support(9.72±2.09),the support of subjectivity(23.49±3.96),and support utilization(6.52±1.66).Among them,the low support level accounted for0.7%,the medium support level accounted for 79.8%,and the high support level accounted for 19.5%.(3).The total adherence of patients with type 2 diabetes is(5.20±1.63).(4).Spearman correlation analysis showed that the total score of health literacy is positively correlated with the total score of social support(p <0.05);the total score of health literacy is positively correlated with the score of medication adherence,and the difference is statistically significative(p <0.05).(5).The gender,age,occupation,education level,family monthly income,family payment medical expenses,payment methods and the number of complications in patients with T2 DM,the results of single factor analysis showed,are different.The difference is statistically significative(p <0.05);Multivariate linear stepwise regression analysis showed that the patient's education level,family monthly income,social support total occupation,and disease progression model.Conclusions(1)Nearly one-third of patients with type 2 diabetes still lack relevant health literacy,indicating that the patient's health literacy still needs further improvement.(2)The total score of social support and the total score of health literacy in patients with type 2 diabetes were positively correlated with the total score of health literacy and the total score of medication compliance.(3)The degree of education,family monthly income,social support,occupation,and course of disease will affect the health literacy of patients and have a predictive effect.
