In recent years, there is growing emphasis on energy efficiency of building, the suitability of building technology, sustainable development, and environment protection. At the same time, the need for taking adaptive measures to reduce building energy consumption has become increasingly urgent. On Poyang lake region, the work of energy conservation in new building has been implemented in urban areas. But it is not optimistic that the work of energy conservation in rural area has not been put into practice. Thus, pointing at the energy efficiency of rural building envelope system in Poyang lake area, we need to research and looking for a lot of information. The lightweight envelopes with exterior insulation, heavy envelope with exterior insulation, and self thermal insulation system of exterior wall are chosen to comparative analysis, which combined with climatic parameters and characteristics of rural housing construction in the area of Poyang lake region. By calculating heat transfer coefficient, field testing and simulations, we obtain the best programme for this study. In order to get a comprehensive analysis from all aspects, we not only studies the performance of heat insulation in summer and the performance of heat preservation in winner, but also to explore the energy saving potential of each envelope system at night ventilation mode. And, drawing on traditional architectural design strategies in the region, we give the region for passive natural ventilation techniques. Pointing at the specific situation in the rural areas, we have to make a comparative analysis of the economy. Finally, we come to conclusion that self thermal insulation system of exterior wall is the best choice. The research results have meaning to building construction for rural areas in Poyang Lake region in future.
