Tracked vehicle hybrid drive system is a kind of electromechanical transmission system and equipment. With the increasing complexity of the system structure, design and modeling of hybrid drive system has become increasingly challenging. The traditional design and modeling methods are hard to meet the requirmement for the system architecture and scheme research. In order to improve the efficiency of system design and modeling, there is the great necessity to formulate a method to generate the system configuration and mathematic model more efficiently. The automated modeling technology is a good solution to this challenge.The domestic and abroad state-of-the-art research and development of tracked vehicle hybrid drive system is first analized in the paper. Based on the summary of the advantages and disadvantages of the system, an overall configuration of the hybrid propulsion system in this research is proposed.The principle of automated modeling is formed and illustrated through the modeling of a power combining device and a power convergent device. The modeling rules and the screening conditions for the power combining device and power convergent device are further proposed.Tracked vehicle dynamic model and hybrid drive system model are built in Simulink to validate the automated modeling method. Several of the selected systems are chosen to be simulated and the result comparison of the results finally verifies the correctness of the automated modeling method.The automated generation and screening process of the system configuration are programmed in Matlab, which achieves the automated modeling of the tracked vehicle hybrid drive system including 3, 4 or 5 planetary gears mechanism. As an application demonstration for the automated modeling, the optimal configuration seeking is discussed. The optimal system configurations and their models are obtained by programming finally.The method of unified model generation of power combining device and power convergent device is proposed at last, making the automated modeling method more integrated and practical. A forward model is built to verify the correctness of the unified method.
