Farmland protection is always a problem on which deserves to be focus for humanbeings of all time. To protect farmland is to protect agriculture and is the foundation ofthe national economy development in some way. Our country is in the midst of the rapiddevelopment of urbanization, the growth of construction land would occupy farmlandinevitably, which has caused the quantity and quality decline of farmland. Theprotection of farmland needs to be paid more attention. Against this background, thepaper made a research on the farmland protection issues, and put forward somesuggestions so as to accelerate the formation of farmland balance system, providingsome reference and ideas to relevant works.This paper takes ShaanXi Province as an example, using literature research method,and empirical analysis method, made a research on the relevance between urbanizationlevel and the amount of farmland on the basis of the data from1997to2011. Bystudying the work of increase and decrease connection between urban and ruralconstruction land as well as mild slope of low mountain and hills, the paper analyzedmain way of protecting farmland under the background of urbanization, and set up asimple model to forecast the amount of farmland in the future.The main achievement of this paper is to provide a new idea for farmlandprotection: set up the project within the provincial region in order to making land usemore reasonable. Besides, the paper also made recommendations to the use of mildslope of low mountain and hills, which has huge potential to develop, and finally makeprediction that the reducing amount of farmland would decrease as urbanization rate rise up andform an equilibrium state. Make a contribution to utilizing cultivated land resourcesrationally, guarantee the agricultural development, and promote social progress.
