It is a new topic and an important part of the ideological and political educationto strengthen minority college students national identity Educational Research.Xinjiang universities bear the historic task to culture socialist construction qualifiedsuccessors and is also the forefront of opposing ethnic separatism. In recent years,ethnic separatist forces to split ideological penetration focused on colleges as well ascollege students, which causes interference to university teaching and learningenvironment in Xinjiang and challenges the national identity education of minoritycollege students. So strengthen minority college students national identity educationto form a positive sense of national identity, which is the task of ideological andpolitical education in Xinjiang universities and the need of national unity andstability in Xinjiang. It is to safeguard the motherland’s reunification, oppose ethnicseparatism,, promote social harmony and stability in ethnic minority areas to speedup the economic and social development of ethnic minority areas, and lay a solidfoundation.Based on the status of national identity in Xinjiang minority college studentsand by inspection of the relevant literature and information questionnaire, Theresearch analyzes the problem and cause in the national identity of the minoritycollege students deeply. On this basis, it discusses to strengthen the national identityeducation of minority college students in a targeted manner and puts forward thecorresponding countermeasure and suggestion. It helps Xinjiang ideological andpolitical workers to recognize the status of minority college students national identityand origin in order to guide the minority college students to establish a correct senseof national identity and cultivates high-quality qualified minorities personnel in thepolitical in socialist modernization.The article includes four parts.The first part is introductory part. It elaborates mainly the basis of the study andsignificance, research status at home and abroad, research idea and method as well asthe focus of the study, Difficulties and innovations.The second part is to overview of national identity theory. It defines theNational Identity, Ethnic Identity, Cultural Identity and Political Identity. And itelaborated the significance of education of Minority College Students to strengthennational identity.The third part analyzes the problem and cause of minority college students’national identity by the Xinjiang college minority students’ national identity survey for exploring ways to strengthen measures to provide a basis.The fourth part explores ways to strengthen measures of Xinjiang collegeminority students’ national identity. Guided by the principles of theoretical educationand practical education combination, education and self-education combination andsolving ideological problems with solving practical problems combination, itestablishes the goal of Xinjiang college minority students’ national identity educationand improves the way and mean in order to play a positive role in national identityeducation.
