Research ObjectiveThis research summarized the historical development of the Taoist Cognitive Therapy and introduced the contributions as well as limitations of this therapy in pursuit of the reasonable suggestions to its scientific development. In addition, this research conducted the clinical random comparative research in order to observe the effect of the early intervention method of the Taoist Cognitive Therapy to prevent PSD and PSA.Research MethodsThis research will collect the related literatures and documents about the Taoist Cognitive Therapy and conduct the systematic summary over them. The purpose is to analyze all the valuable literatures on the therapy and evaluate its background, theoretical basis and clinical practices.60cases of the early-stage stroke sufferers who had not yet encountered PSD and PSA would be selected as the research sample and would be randomly divided into two groups, the Prevention Group and the Control Group, based on their research admission time. Every group would have30cases of patients. While receiving the conventional treatments, patients in the Prevention Group would be given the Taoist Cognitive Therapy while the Control Group would receive the conventional healthy education. The intervention lasted for4weeks. This research would then employ the A-type behavior questionnaires, HRSD and HAMA to assess the patients respectively before and after the prevention. The A-type behavior and the incidence rate of PSD and PSA for patients in both groups would be calculated. Process the data and documents with SPSS17.0for statistical analysis.Research OutcomeThe Taoist Cognitive Therapy is one of the psychological therapies that are most suitable to the Chinese people, which is based on the theoretical bases and clinical effect verified by the clinical practices. Yet, the range and depth of the clinical practices is still insufficient. Moreover, the incidence rates of PSD, PSAD and A-type behavior observed in the Prevention Group were conspicuously lower than those of the Control Group. The disparity had the statistical significance.ConclusionThe Taoist Cognitive Therapy made a certain degree of contributions to the development of the psychological therapies with Chinese characteristics and the localization of the western therapies. Yet, regarding research and literatures on the psychological pathology and adaptation diseases of the Taoist Cognitive Therapy, there is room for improvement. The research outcome preliminarily demonstrated that the early intervention proposed by the Taoist Cognitive Therapy can effectively prevent the PSD and PSA. However, due to the small research sample and short intervention time, the research outcome still needs the further verification by expanding the sample and prolonging the observation time. The long-term follow-up effect of the intervention should be placed under in the follow-up research in order to confirm its effect.
