Objective; This article aims to construct an index system of clinical ability evaluation for eight-year program medical students in internship phase; provide a reference for evaluating clinical ability of eight-year program medical students and completing the eight-year medical education training model.Methods:From professional knowledge, basic clinical competence, clinical thinking ability, communication management capabilities, professionalism five dimensions, this study used literature review, panel discussion, analytic hierarchy process and Delphi method to construct the index system. Synthetical scoring method was used to construct the comprehensive evaluation model, and synthetic index method was used to testify the result. The index system was evaluatd with20eight-year interns in a university affiliated hospital using a line chart test and intraclass correlation coefficient test method. Excel and SPSS19.0were used to do statistics and analysis.Results:1) The frame of the constructed index system includes five dimensions, namely professional knowledge, basic clinical competence, clinical thinking ability, communication management capabilities and professionalism;11second-level indexes and28third-level indexes.2) The first class weight defined by the Delphi Method showed: professional knowledge0.1627, basic clinical competence0.4003, clinical thinking ability0.2477, communication management capabilities0.1099and professionalism0.0794.3) Four groups evaluation results intraclass correlation coefficients were gastroenterology0.909, hepatobiliary surgery0.878, gynecology0.952, pediatrics0.920. Evaluation results have high consistency, which showed that the reliability of the test. 4) The clinical ability evaluation average results of boys are higher than girls in surgical practice, while in gynecology and pediatric are lower than girls.5) The average scores of all students are distribution between7.6and8.3. The original grade point averages of professional knowledge, basic clinical competence and professionalism are higher than those of clinical thinking ability and communication management capabilities.Conclusions:The index system of clinical ability evaluation for eight-year program medical students in internship phase is scientific and rational. It can reflect the eight-year medical students’ clinical ability level objectively and comprehensively.
