Objective:The objective of this research is to evaluate the efficacy and safety of foamsclerotherapy (Lauromacrogol injection) in treatment of refractory venous leg ulcers. It is expected to find a new method in treatment of venous leg ulcers.Method:There were30patients were randomly divided into experimental and controlgroups, the experimental group of16patients and the control group of14patients.The experimental group was given the treatment of ulcers under and surroundingfoam sclerotherapy and dressing and elastic bandage treatment; the control group wasgiven the ulcer under and around superficial vein resection and dressing and elasticbandage treatment. Compared between the two groups of hospital stay, ulcer healingtime, the shrinkage of ulcers, pain, recurrence rate and other indicators. Results:The experimental group’s average length of hospital stay was17.0±11.1days, and the control group was23.4±15.8days, the differential of two groups wasstatistically significant(P <0.05); the average healing time of experimental group was46.7±26.0days, and the control group was56.2±17.0days, the difference was nostatistically significant(P>0.05). Average shrinkage of ulcers of the experimentalgroup was66.4±29.1%, and the control group was66.0±16.0%, the difference oftwo groups was no statistically significant(P>0.05). The average pain score of theexperimental group was3.7±0.8, and the control group was5.3±1.8, the differenceof two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05). The average cost of treatment ofthe experimental group was7595.6±1958.9yuan, and the control group was9764.5±2117.6yuan, the difference of two groups was statistically significant (P<0.05).Ulcer recurrence rate of the experimental group was0%, and the control group was7.1%, the two groups showed no statistically significant (P>0.05). Conclusion:The foam sclerotherapy and surgery treatment considerable effect, canpromote refractory venous ulcer healing, shorten the hospital stay of patients. Thefoam sclerotherapy with slight pain, and overall adverse reaction and risk is less, especially the serious adverse reactions, and it is easily accepted by patients. Thefoam sclerotherapy is easy and convenient, impact less on patients’ lives and work, which can reduce the economic burden of the patients. The foam sclerotherapyreproducibility easy, which is a good choice for the recurrent ulcer.
