Research On The Relationship Between Economic Development And Desertification In Kerqin Sandy Land

Desertification problemsin the north of China are quite serious, which threaten the sustainable development of local social economy and ecological environment. Currently studies on the relationship between human economic activity and the relationship are manyin desertification area, but lot of these studies from the microcosmic research on specific human economic behaviors (e.g., excessive reclamation, overgrazing, deforestation denudation, and over irrigation overuse, grazing, denudation and unreasonable utilization of water resources, etc.) Research on economic development and desertification is not muchfrom economic angle.The work remains to be improved,which proceed prevention and control of desertification from the comprehensive angles of social natural and economic.Currently, it’s a new field in on man-land relationshipthat to explore the relationship between economic development and environmental effectusing EKC model study.This paper which choosethree scales(Tongliao, Naiman and Naiman township) as a case,based onthe MODIS remote sensing image of tongliao during2000to2009and the Landsat TM remote sensing image of Naiman during1987to2009, use EKC model to study the relationship between economic growth and desertification development. Results show that the relationship between desertification development and economic development is not a simple "inverted U" relationship in three scales.(1)On the time series,different degree of desertification development is influenced by economic development differently, the desertification development of tongliao area is mainly affected by agricultural economy production activity and population pressure;(2)On spatial scales, the correlation between the economic and desertification development is different,and the time when apparel a turning point is also different, but the trend that economic effect desertification is similar;(3) Compared with the economic impact on desertification, climate impact is not significant to the development of desertification, on the same scale,the different degree of desertification are influenced by climate factors significantly differently.
