The Research On The Orphans And Disabled Children ’s Development Who Are In Foster Care In The Eyesight Of Social Work

The mode of family foster care for orphans and disabled children is developed and spread throughout the whole country, which has drawn a extensive attention of the scholars from all walks of life. Especially in the last few years, the scholars have found out that family foster care has a positive effects on the children’s physiology, psychology and social development, and that some problems in the family foster care influence the development of the orphans and disabled children. The scholars has put forward relevant suggestions for specific problems to improve the family foster mode and push forward the development of the welfare policies about the family foster care.This study primarily analyzes the above issue in the following aspects:The first part involves the introduction about research review and practical development of the family foster care. To begin with,I review the research of the family foster care, including these research reviews such as the mode,social work intervened in the family foster care,the orphans and disabled children in the family foster care. Then I sort out the changing process of the welfare policies about the family foster care with time on the basis of the changing trend of the children’s welfare policies. Similarly, I introduce the mode of the family foster care in all parts of China according to real situation in the development of the family foster care in the provinces and municipalities of China.In the second part, the problems and conditions of Qixia foster care for those children is introduced. Taking the the Qixia foster care of the Children’s welfare Association in Nanjing as an example, I have some understanding of the living conditions of the orphans and disabled children from the information gathered during my internship. Apart from this, I conduct a further research in the following four directions:physical and psychological health, interpersonal communication,cognitive deviation, learning and behaviour.Thirdly, I throw light upon the influences the mode of family foster care has on the orphans and the disabled children in the Qixia foster care. In the light of the main participants in the mode of the family foster care-----welfare institutions, family foster care, volunteers and schools, I make an investigation about how those four participants affect the orphans and the disabled children during the interactions with them.Finally,I will study the the intervention of the social work in the services of the family foster care. From the perspective of the needs of the welfare institutions and those children, I apply the concepts and methods to the services of the family foster care, and explore the approaches of the intervention. In the process of the practical work, I point out that the welfare institutions endow the social workers a leadership as a whole who should effectively integrate the resources possessed by the welfare institutions, foster families, volunteers and schools to form a systematical management. Social workers have some room to perform their functions in every level. Acting as various roles, they can timely adjust working methods in accordance with the specific requirements, especially the methods in the policies. Through the ways such as social actions, policy advocacy, social workers carry forward the legislation of the children’ welfare and provide the services effectively on the premise that they showcase their professional skills in social work.
