Objectives1. To investigate the strait-state anxiety and assess the effect of massage on patients awaitingPCI surgery.2. To investigate the feedback from the patients on accepting the massage nursing.3. To design the massage nursing plan for alleviating the anxiety and tension.MethodsIn the survey research, using convenience sampling method, for160patients awaitingPercutaneous Coronary Intervention surgery conducted the questionnaire surgery, and there are149valid questionnaires. The general material questionnaire, State-Trait Anxiety Inventory,Social Support Rating Scale and Medical Coping Modes Questionnaire were chosen. All thedata were analyzed by SPSS17.0: oneway ANOVA and Multiple linear regression analysis. In the intervention study, the grade ē hospital department of cardiology116patients wererecruited as research objects which were randomly divided into the experiment group (n=58)and the control group (n=58). The patients in the control group received routine preoperativeexaminations. In addition, the patients in the experimental group received a unified andstandardized massage care provided by the therapists. Shoulders and back are areas massaged.Using STAI questionnaire examined the STAI scores between the control group and experimentgroup, pulse rate, systolic, diastolic blood pressure Variations on the three different times. Allthe data were analyzed by SPSS17.0, including t-test, chi-square test, Repeated MeasuresAnalysis of Variance and Multiple linear regression analysis.ResultsThe survey of anxiety in PCI surgery showed:1.149study objects were chosen, including102men (68.5%) and47women (31.5%). Themean age was55.1811.38, and the minimum one was22, the maximum one was69.2. Among149PCI surgery patients, the number of them without anxiety was83, the number ofthem with anxiety was66, the prevalence of anxiety in PCI surgery patients was44.3%,between the age40-49, the number of patients with anxiety was25, the prevalence of anxietywas16.8%; between the age50-69, the number of them was41, the prevalence of anxiety was27.5%.3. The mean S-AI was41.369.73, and T-AI was40.489.79, the single sample T–test showedthat the S-AI scores of women was higer than the norms (t=3.14, p<0.05), this shows that theprevalence of patients awaiting PCI surgery was higher than norms.4. The single factor analysis showed that gende(r2=51.31, P=0.00)、monthly income (2=9.06,P=0.029)、 the score of objective support(t=4.67, P=0.00)、 the score of subjective support(t=3.22,P=0.00),coping modes(t=2.07, P=0.04)、 aviodance(t=2.38, p=0.02)、resignation(t=4.28, P=0.00) associated with anxiety of patients awaiting PCI surgery.5. Multiple logistic regression showed that the factors of anxiety in PCI surgery were gender, subjective support and objective support.2. The effect of massage intervention on patients awaiting PCI surgery showed that:1.116patients who were selected, including58in the control group and58in the interventiongroup. The number of male was79, accounted for68.1%; the number of female was37,accounted for31.9%. The mean age was54.7410.04years, and the minimum one is22year-old, the maximum one is69year-old.2. Paired-test showed that there was not significance between the two groups (P>0.05).3. After the massage nursing intervention in the experiment group, the scores of State-Anxietyin the control was45.14±7.34, the scores of the test group was35.97±10.66, there wassignificance between the two group in anxiety(T=5.398,P<0.05);the scores of Trait-Anxiety inthe control was42.60±8.44, the scores of the test group was36.81±9.67, there wassignificance between the two group in anxiety(T=3.438,P<0.05).4. Repeated measures variance analysis were used to compare the heart rate of patients on threedifferent times among the baseline, preoperative day and going operating room, the resultsshow that: the overall changes in heart rate were different between the two groups, thedifference was statistically significant (F=11.244, P<0.05), As time goes on, the heart rate wasmore faster during surgery (F=11.392, P<0.05).5. Repeated measures variance analysis were used to compare the systolic blood pressure anddiastolic blood pressure of patients on three different times among the baseline, preoperativeday and going operating room, the results show that: the overall changes in systolic bloodpressure and diastolic blood pressure were different between the two groups, the difference wasnot statistically significant (F=0.476,P>0.05,F=0.003,P>0.05), As time goes on, the systolicblood pressure and diastolic blood pressure was more lower during surgery (F=7.015,P<0.05;F=7.859,P<0.05)。6. Multivariate variance analysis method was used to compare heart rate, blood pressurebetween the intervention and control group before and after the intervention, results show thatthere were not different after intervention, there no statistically significant difference (P>0.05).Conclusions1. The prevalence of anxiety in patients awaiting PCI surgery was higher than norms; the scoresof anxiety in PCI surgery patients (41.369.73) was higher than norms (P<0.05), this showedthat there was severe psychological stress problems.2. The results of multiple linear regression showed that the factors of anxiety was resignation, subjective support, objective support and monthly income.3. Massage nursing intervention may alleviate the anxiety level of patients awaiting PCI surgery, after the intervention, the anxiety level, heart rate in the experiment group was better than thecontrol group(p<0.05).4. We should focus on the nursing intervention models in order to promote the whole health ofpatients, and improve the satisfaction for doctors and nurses.
