Dam instability is an important factor of accidents of tailings. So selecing a safe and economical dam body natually become an important issue. Arch dam have widely used in hydraulic engineering, it can transfer some loads to both ends of the dam by arch, it also has both higher overload capacity and fewer material,so it is safe and economic. The stability of arch dams realated to its body style. Therefore, to select right body of arch tailing dam has both significant academic value and economic benefits.This paper combined with geological data and the physical and mechanical parameters, simply designed the body of proposed arch tailing dam, initially identified the geometric parameters of the model, including the curve of upstream face,center angle and the thickness.This thesis, using ANSYS parametric design language of the finite element analysis software, analyzed the2D stability of the proposed arch tailings dam,reached its dispacement, stress and plastic zone contours.Take2D simulation analysis on the seepage field of the arch tailings dam, and on this basis,analyzed the2D stability of the arch tailings dam. Analyzed the3D stability of the arch tailings dam and obtained its dispacement, stress and plastic zone contours, and then compared to the conclusions reached last year. The results showed that the safety factor of3D-model is higher than other2D-model and the straight dam.Studies have shown that the construction of the arch tailings dam can achieve better economic benefits and social benefits. Theoretical explained that the arguments put forward have certain feasibility, and provides another option for dam type of tailings dam.
