On a global scale,the demand for mineral products has increased substantially with economic development.Consequently,the mining of mineral resources results in the production and accumulation of a large number of tailings,causing many problems with respect to mining,the environment,and the economy.The storage of tailings under water can effectively hinder the chemical reactions that they undergo.Therefore,it is a critical practice to store these substances in ponds or impoundments behind dams.Once a tailings pond leaks,it has a major negative impact on the economy,surrounding properties,and people's lives.Therefore,it is necessary to study the stability and influencing factors of tailings dams and tailings dams,analyze the mechanism of tailings dam failure and construct a dam failure risk assessment system for tailings dam,in order to provide theoretical guidance for mining enterprises.This paper aims at the high accident rate of tailings pond,focusing on analyzing the factors affecting the safety and stability of the tailings dams and tailings dams,and conducting a systematic study on the risk assessment system of the tailings dams dam failure.The main work and results of this article are as follows:(1)This article refers to a large number of domestic and foreign literatures,we introduce the information about the tailings,the commonly used damming methods of tailings dams and compare the advantages and disadvantages of different damming methods.(2)The analysis of the cause of the dam break and the mechanism of the tailings dam.At present,scholars' researches mainly tend to cause the tailings dam to break down due to single factors,and there is a lack of systematic research on the safety of the tailings dams.This article summarizes the current common causes of tailings dam failures,namely seepage failure,slope instability,flood top and earthquake action.Through the analysis of the crash mechanism through examples,the safety and stability factors that have a greater impact on the tailings dam during the construction of the tailings dam are proposed.(3)The establishment of a risk assessment system for tailings dam failure.AHP is used to establish a hierarchical structure model for the safe operation of the tailings pond,that is,the risk index system of the tailings dam failure.The analytic hierarchy process is used to determine the weight value of each level of indicators and sort each index to determine the main factors affecting the safety of the tailings dam failure,so as to provide a good scientific basis for managers and decision makers.Finally,this paper introduces several common repair methods after the leakage accident of the tailings pond.The author advocates that the tailings pond needs to adopt a scientific closed storage design to ensure the safety and stability of the tailings pond after the closure.Some risk control methods of tailings pond are introduced...
