ObjectiveTry to estimate how the therapeutic effect of positional maneuver in thetreatment of benign paroxysmal positional vertigo (BPPV). Methods:ConcludingTwenty-one primary and secondary BPPV cases which came from outpatientand inpatient of Neurology department of General HospitalăXinMin branchHospital and NanHu branch Hospital in China-Japan Union Hospital during2011July first to2012March first. Twenty cases of Post semicircular canal benignparoxysmal positional vertigo (PC-BPPV) patients were treated with the Epleymaneuver or Semont maneuver. One Horizontal semicircular canal benignparoxysmal positional vertigo (HC-BPPV) was treated with Barbecue maneuver.The therapeutic effects were evaluated.ResultsNineteen PC-BPPV cases treated with the Epley maneuver or Semontmaneuver and one HC-BPPV case treated with the Barbecue maneuver wereeffective. The effective rate was95.2%.Conclusions1. Positional maneuver is a simple, safe and effective way to treat benignparoxysmal positional vertigo. Having a high cure rate and saving lots of money.2. The elderly and secondary BPPV may need more times CRP, evenunaffected.3. BPPV is more prevalent in women than men and most develops in theposterior semicircular canals. |
