Study On Characteristics And Turf Qualities Of09-1Seashore Paspalum

In this experiment, compared with Salam Seashore paspalum, Common Bermud-agrass and Tifton328Bermudagrass, the biological characteristics of09-1Seashore paspalum such as growth period and fecundity, morphological characteristics have been systematically studied. Meanwhile an overall evaluation of Turf-quality has been made. The results are as follows:1. In external morphological characteristics aspect, the09-1Seashore Paspal-um in plant height, leaf width, stolons roughness, leaf area were higher than those of the three control grasses, and its stolon internodes length shows a small difference with Salam Seashore paspalum.2. In the phenophase aspects,09-1Seashore paspalum returned green a little later than Bermudagrass series, but earlier than Salam Seashore paspalum.09-1Seashore paspalum turned yellow earlier than Common bermudagrass21days and15days than Tifton328bermudagrass, but later than Salam Seashore Paspalum10days. Its green period was246days, which was shorter than Common bermudagrass31days and Tifton328Bermudagrass21days but14days longer than that of Seashore paspalum.09-1Seashore Paspalum flowering and seeding did not been observed in a life cycle.3.09-1Seashore Paspalum in turf color, uniformity, texture, lawn height, growthing into lawn velocity, coverage, disease resistance are outstanding and score4points or more, but poor performance on the lawn density and intensity and score2points or less. However,09-1Seashore Paspalum has a general performance on the green period with scoring3points.4.The overall evaluation of09-1Seashore Paspalum in ornamental lawns, recreational turf, sports turf quality and Soil conservation lawn were between0.7～0.78and the lawn quality level in line with the standards of grade IV lawn. Whatever, the comprehensive evaluation of09-1Seashore paspalum in the quality and the functions of four kinds lawns is good, so it can be popularized and widely applied.
