Effects of different fertilizer applications and levels on Tifdwarf Green turf quality were studied in Shenzhen Jiulong Mountain Golf Course from Sep. to Nov. 2004. Seven indexes of Green turf, i.e. density, coverage, color, texture, uniformity, rebound elasticity and speed were taken to determine the synthetical assessment of Green turf quality in this experiment. The results were as follows: 1. Effects of different fertilization intervals and amounts on Green turf density, coverage, color, texture and uniformity were prominent (p<0.05) by using the same Green slow-release fertilizer (N:P:K is 18:6:14). Their scores of above parameters were increased as the fertilizer amount enhanced, but the 40g/m2, 10-day-interval leaded to an optimal appearance quality of the Green turf. In terms of the rebound elasticity and speed of Green turf, the application of 40g/m2, 30-day-interval, showed the best affect. Green speed has a positive linear correlation with turf uniformity and rebound elasticity, while a negative correlation with turf density, coverage, color and texture was found. However, the appearance quality of Green turf was not in line with its utilization quality. 2. Regarding the various fertilizer levels of different ratios of N, P and K, they showed obvious effects on the turf density, color and rebound elasticity (p<0.05), but not significant on turf coverage, texture, uniformity and Green speed. The fertilization effects were significant (p<0.05) when N:P:K ratios is 18:6:14. Under the rate of 40g/m2, 20-day-interval, all the turf indexes had a smooth ascending trends, and the Green turf appearance quality and utilization quality were optimal. 3. The soil of Green turf would turn to compact when the trampling, machine suppression and rainfall or irrigation on the Green are excess, which, subsequently lead to the turfgrass ill-natured. However, carrying on a series of special measures on the Green, such as vertical-cutting, coring, topdressing, rolling and fertilization etc, the soil condition would be improved, therefore to support a better Green turf as the fertilizer are more efficiency. 4. Keeping on a properly maintaining monthly on the Green turf through the special measures of vertical-cutting (2.5-3mm), perforation (7.5-8.0cm), topdressing (1.3-1.5mm), rolling (250kg), fertilization (35g/m2), irrigation and bactericide sequentially, could increase the turf density, texture, rebound elasticity and Green speed, moreover, it could improve the Green landscape quality and utilization quality greatly. 5. The Green speed was influnced significantly by the turf density, texture and rebound elasticity (p<0.01). Among those latter three indexes, the impact of rebound elasticity was much powerful than others.
