Objective: This paper is aimed to know the construction station of ICU SN training basement and to understand the training effectiveness evaluation of ICU SN herself, her colleagues and her leader. Methods: A cross-sectional survey method was used. From October 2009 to April 2011, 3 ICU specialist nurse training base of Xinjiang was field surveyed and the 260 ICU SNs who met the inclusion criteria were investigated, by questionnaireing the ICU SN herself, her colleagues and her leader. Results: 1) The software and hardware infrastructure of ICU SN training base can meet the needs of training in Xinjiang. As a whole, the treachers were adequate; the treachers can help the students hand to hand during the clinical practice. But there were still some problems as follows: teachers working conditions were not clear; most clinical teachers were with low educational background, professional titles, nursing research ability; especially most teachers hadn't learned education systemticly. 2) Amony the ICU SN herself, colleagues and leaders, they all hold the same viewpoint that the trained nurses'multi-disciplinary capabilities, communication and collaboration capabilities were improved except research capabilities. There were 21. 6% participants of trained nurses who had't work in ICU or work as a ICU SN becauses of some reasons. Conclusions: 1) Xinjiang ICU specialist nurse training bases have the condition to training SN. 2) The manpower of ICU training base was shortage and the team structure was less reasonable. 3) The clinical teacher of SN has ambiguity role and lack of teaching qualification requirements. 4) The trained ICU SNs'clinical capabilities and multi-disciplinary capabilities were improved, but the research capacity was not increased significant. 5) ICU specialist nurse training was conducive to the Xinjiang region's development.
